Does anyone know or anywhere that I could buy a flea collar that would be suitable for my 9 week old kitten? We bought her with free fleas included and have managed to remove most (thank God!) but I am concerned they might get back on her again. I have hoovered round and sprayed the home flea spray on carpets etc but want to put something on her to stop them returning. Tried a herbal spot on but it did nothing, I had to give her a flea tablet last night to get rid of them, it drove her mad as they started dieing but she appeciated me combing her with the nit comb to remove them. I really don't want to put her through it again so any collar ideas?0

Let me get this straight! You bought a kitten and got the fleas for FREE. This is a money saving website yet your moaning about it?0 -
Help, where can you get the flea bombs??? My kids are getting bitten alive and I have treated the cat and sprayed the house but our house is huge ( and falling down) but must be missing somewhere they are. I am mortified that someone in the school will see the bites and think my kids are dirty!!! Ii have coated my kids in tea tree oil but they still seem to get bitten. We live in Scotland so any ideas of shops or online ( preferred) wherer we can get the bomb would be great. I just want to killthese bugs.0

I would of thought your local vets surgery would stock them. Don't know if they would be the cheapest though!0

The PDSA website has ideas on how to deal with fleas. Including putting a flea collar in the Hoover bag after your first big clean-up, presumably to kill any fleas/eggs you Hoover up. Also suggests destroying bedding (presumably only the cats). It does say that central heating is making it so that fleas/eggs survive longer, so possibly open windows and turn heating down in unused rooms will make the house less flea friendly.

You can try the local council if you really think its a problem, however my local council no longer sell that type of product for personal use because its "toxic".
I would also have a look on the supermarket shelves at the pet products.0 -
our vet said that flea collars were a waste of money. He also had a flea powder you couldnt find in the shops which was very effective.Fleas like the warm and they like carpets with thick pile so they appreciate central heating. They also like bedding so if you have a problem, dont forget to hoover the all matresses too on both sides.
We got rid of ours by putting the powder all around the edges of every room and hoovering like mad.0 -
ok, now the cat is showing off. 3 dead mice in the back garden [fleas and mice - don't you just want to come and visit me????]
any suggestions for what to do with dead mice bits? can i compost them?
i draw the line at making mouse stew, though think this is what the cat is hoping for..0
