Interparcel.com - Are they Reliable?

  • This thread is mainly drivel, but anyway
if something goes wrong with your booking, you cannot amend or cancel it online, not even if you placed the booking only 5 minutes ago, it's the middle of the night and there's no way either they or the courier will have picked it up yet.
If you make an error whilst booking and you are using a re-seller who is automated with the carrier you will not be able to amend it. Makes absolutely no difference who use. As for the telephone issue that may no be great, but how many re-sellers actually have a phone contact, not many. Apart from anything you should have no need to contact them anyway, unless it's regarding a breakage or loss- which in over 3000 parcels with DHL (not through interparcel) we have never had.

It's also worth noting interparcel are now one of a very few who are under the £7+ vat bracket and also still offer the most comprehensive range of courier services out of everyone. Only freightsearch.com are cheaper at £6.89+ vat, that I'm aware of.
  • I have dealt with Interparcel a few times with no problems, but not anymore. On the 14th January 2008 I sent a parcel to Spain and it has still not arrived, 2 weeks later! After numerous calls to Interparcel [on their expensive 0870 number] eventually I was told that this parcel had been opened/damaged and DHL were doing 'investigative' work on it! When I asked if this would take days or weeks I was told that they didnt know. Today I rang DHL, [no easy thing getting through to the right department, [another O870 number]. They have told me that the parcel is being 'returned to sender' because it is damaged or incomplete. I have no idea what, if anything, I am going to find when it arrives back to me. Like someone else has stated on this thread you have no option but to phone them because they do not respond to your emails, I have sent three so far, with no reply. When booking you have to provide phone numbers for consignee/recipient, why I ask, because they have not used them. There has been no contact from them to either myself or the recipient and if it wasnt for my constant phone calls we would be none the wiser.
So, if like me you are thinking that 'courier' services are a safer way to send, think again. I paid a lot more than it would have cost me with Parcelforce because I naively thought it would arrive at its destination in one piece.
Interparcel in my opinion are not good when things go wrong and have shown no concern, ie. ignored emails and made no contact despite them being aware that there is a problem. I did take out extra compensation cover but unfortunately I skimped and only covered it for £100 when the item cost £135, so a word of advise, make sure you cover it for the right amount if you do use this service. I am just hoping I receive the parcel back before their 28 days cut off point for claims is reached this is probably going to lead to more phone calls!

    NO they are NOT

I am still waiting for a parcel sent from Watford the 08 July 2008.

That would be because you are in Tenerife which is not part of the EU customs area.

I have had stuff take weeks to clear for there and they require consignees Work Permit / National Insurance number etc to release the goods. Nothing to do with Interparcel.

They use a rip-off 0871 number for customer service and 0870 for sales.

I always use email and a response is always received within 24 hours. Never needed to phone them and I have sent hundreds of parcels, had a few insurance claims, etc. No issues at all dealing totally by email.
  • I wouldn't get too hooked up and what new registrants are saying in here.

There is this thread as well which had exactly the same kind of posts, up in till I posted I link to a certain site. Kind of hints at who is behind all this......
  • I used interparcel last week for the first time. We arranged for the package to be picked up at my husband's workplace, we followed the tracking online, and it was delivered with no problems :D

I always thought they were a good company but honestly their customer services are shocking.

I booked a collection for yesterday, waited all day, no one came. So, I called this morning, they had no idea why it hadn't been collected and really gave the impression they couldn't care less either. I asked what I could do because I am leaving on a trip to canada tomorrow and needed it collecting, the woman said that I could still book for today, so I did.

No one has been yet, so I called again, the snotty mare on the phone said that nothing had been booked for today and now it was too late, she could do it for monday. Not much use to me really seeing as I will be in Canada then. Finally with no apology at all she said, I've issued a refund, nothing more I can do and hung up the phone. Nice

I was polite on the phone, now I wish I had told her to shove her crappy 'service' up her backside.

  • I have had similar experiences, several of my parcels have been "lost", and their customers services are just damn rude about it.

It could be a perfect crime, the courier steals your items, there is no investigation. They can then sell them as new with warranty etc, and make themselves a very nice bit of Christmas money. Of course this might not be happening as well.

I would suggest not using Interparcel.
  • I've used Interparcel for years with no problems until last week.
I had an urgent print job (which was done extremely quickly by TGPrint) and arranged for a pickup and next day delivery from Interparcel.
Next day I tracked it to see when it might arrive - it hadn't been picked up so rang customer services. As it had missed our event it wasn't so urgent so changed to a cheaper slower delivery - 2 days later checked to find it still hadn't been collected.
Terrible customer service - they wouldn't change it to next day even though it had already been 2 days and didn't seem to give a s***
myParcelDelivery.com weren't any better though - I ended up ringing UPS direct to tell them to pick it up and it arrived next day
