Finally, am I right assuming that this is the most energy efficient way of baking a spud?
I'd say a microwave is more efficient

Incidentally, I'm quite proud of my homemade frozen roast potatoes. Once did Christmas for 25 people using these (made them in November) and they worked perfectly.

Got 12 in the oven now along with a load of chicken drumsticks and thighs smothered with bbq sauce. The kids love them.
I will have a jacket potato with mine later and prob we will all have one tomorrow eve, and the rest will go in the freezer

I put my jackets in the micro until just about cooked and then throw them in a hot oven to crisp up, doesn't take long; I do the same with wedges, cook them in the micro and into the oven to crisp up.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hi All,
I eat a lot of baked potatoes at the moment, which necessitates putting my oven on for around 1.5 hours.
So... my question is, is it possible to bake potatoes in a slow cooker, and if so, how do you do it, and do they come out nice and crispy???
Finally, am I right assuming that this is the most energy efficient way of baking a spud?

I always blast them in the microwave till nearly done then finish off in the oven for 20-30 mins. If you pre-heat an oven tray to put them on it helps to get the skin crispy.0

I have a microwave oven... I use the setting for potatoes and select the number... when it pings the outside is crisp and the inside fluffy!We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. A metal skewer through them speeds up cooking in the oven, as it conducts the heat more quickly to the centre. I sometimes use things called chicken pins. Every bit of time helps.0

Wow - so many ideas - many thanks to all of you!
I am trying the batch cook method - there are 4x spuds in the oven as I type... However, once frozen, how do you heat 'em up again? It must take nearly as long to thaw them and heat them through as to cook them in the first place??
