All three of my kids accounts are with the Nationwide - I don't recall anything at sign-up, but we did get a booklet of vouchers for each of them with the annual statement last week.

    • Statement Folder.
    • Barclays Pen (i actually "borrowed" it from my bank ;)).
They came in a carry bag which said on it "Please excuse me, but i got carried away" :p

And there going to see if i can get online banking (im under 16) as they might be able to but can't gurantee it.

Do Shepshed BS still offer stylish green van (more collectors' item than toy) if you open the account in person?

More attractively for those of a MSE bent, Mansfield BS did give money additions into the account when you reach various thresholds.

The Lambeth BS - alas no longer with us - came out tops as it gave out £400 when it merged with the Portman and £200 when the Portman later merged with the Nationwide.

Whether there will ever be another Lambeth, I don't know.

  • I'd like to open an account where the interest is paid monthly, as I think it's more immediate than having to wait a whole year to see it growing. However, I can't find any that do this ..
