Adult Education in Full Time Employment

Hi,

Does anybody have any experience of claiming any type of funding in relation to adult education whilst in full time employment?

I am currently undertaking a long distance learning HND and have built up quite a collection of reference books. Over the past 18 months I have spent a few hundred pounds on research material and books to assist me in my chosen field and am now wondering whether there is a process that will allow me to claim some of the money back.

Due to my employment and the nature of the course I predict that I will be studying for the next 2 years and will probably buy a lot more reference books.

Of course, it is my own choice to undertake the studying and it is also my own choice to buy the books. However, any form of grant, tax refund, or other will go along way to help.

I have become quite thrifty in relation to searching the respective book sites and borrowing where practicable from the library, but I am now looking at other alternatives.

Thanks for reading and thanks in anticipation of any replies.

Wolf-dog.

If you live in Wales or Scotland you could apply for an Individual Learning Account.

If you are studying part time at this level and your income is below £16,000, you can get a grant to pay for the fees and extra money for associated costs. If you earn more than this then there is help available on a sliding scale and there are different rates if you are living with someone. You can find all the information on https://www.direct.gov.uk
