Refuse Refund -Consequences ?

Hi Guys
I know this may not be popular !
I have sold and sent something to a buyer , my better half sent it from the post office but DIDNT get a POD !
My question is this , the buyer is saying it hasnt turned up , they have 3 other feedback with the same problem ! i think i`m being scammed , what is the worst case scenario if i just refuse a refund ? my instint knows im being done over and im finding it hard to accept...

If they do a paypal "item not received dispute" they will be able to get the money back if you cannot show proof of delivery.

It does sound like they are trying it on.

They'll put in a claim for item not received in paypal, paypal will ask for the tracking number (proof of delivery is no good) which you will be unable to provide and paypal will automatically find in their favour after 10 days and refund them.

Ebay is now a thiefs charter and a very dangerous place for the casual seller.

Really you don't know what the situation is - they could be having you on but it could have been lost in the post. If they paid by Paypal they would succeed with an item not received claim as you will be unable to prove receipt. Unfortunately with no COP you won't be able to claim from the PO.

If you turn the situation around and imagine being the buyer who has paid money and received nothing you would rightly expect a refund.

Probably not what you want to hear but this is one of the hazards of distance selling and I think you have no option but to refund. In the future you do need to protect yourself with COPs.

Your account will probably be put in to a negative if buyer protection kicks in and paypal will hand the funds to the buyer.

Your options are, pay up and put your account in to the black.

Never use that paypal account again and walk away. Ebay/paypal can't chase you for a debt, becuase there was no credit agreement between you.

If there was no eligibility for buyer protection, they will tell the buyer that there are no funds available but they will try to recover the money as soon as funds are available in your account. I don't know how much they try, as I've never been in this scenario

Also if you plan to refuse to recredit your paypal account then that means the end of your selling on ebay as you can't sell without a paypal account.

Lastly, the debt collectors used by payapal are known for their unpleasant tactics and you may have an unpleasant time ahead if it goes to debt collection.

That's right. Until you credit your paypal account with the £33 you can't use it again and therefore you can't sell on ebay. if you do still use your paypal account then obviously paypal will just take any funds received to pay off your debt.

Surely if this person is doing this a lot then either they need reporting strongly to ebay or the Royal Mail. Not sure what either can do but this really persists me off!! Any clue so we can block them?!!!!!
