How long was your freezer off for? If the door was kept shut, most of the food in there would be fine for hours. You could probably still cook it now, it's not likely to kill you any more than if you left it to defrost in the fridge for a day or so.

I don't know whether I'm not cautious enough or whether those above are just too cautious. The freezer in my student digs last year was occasionally left open over night and I haven't suffered any ill consequences.

Someone has left the freezer door slightly ajar and ten fishfingers and six quarter pounders have started to defrost, oh and a piece of steak.
I can cook the fishfingers tonight, but how long will the other stuff be okay in the fridge? I am going away for the weekend and was hoping my teenager could eat them over the weekend.
    Thanks

I was always taught that after it has defrosted, eat within 24 hours.

Or if they are raw burgers and steak you could cook them and re-freeze them or cook them and put them in the fridge to be eaten in the next 3 days ;)
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
