iPhone 3G on Orange
on the 11th of July the iPhone 3G was launched on the Orange network in France, Switzerland etc..www.orange.ch
I am with Orange and have been for 9 years, my contract is up for renewal and i want to change to o2 just to get the iPhone 3G and because most of my friends are now on o2 also.
I rang Orange to get my pak code so i could transfer my mobile number over to o2 and Orange customer services were not very willing to give it to me as they said they could give me a better deal than o2.
I was basically offered the same £45 package that o2 offer (1200mins and 500texts) but for £35 from Orange plus an unlimited data and free calls to U.K. numbers starting 01 and 02 package for free, I was told if i waited until the start of September that i could get a free 8gb iPhone 3G with this agreed deal.
I dont know if i can wait that long....Why wasn't the iPhone 3G released on Orange in the U.K. the same time as it was in France or Switzerland ?
Should i wait or should i try and get a better deal from o2 as i would be a new customer for them ?

well if they are saying that it'll be released on orange in the UK I think thats a first,
Haven't heard a sniff of a rumour like that until now, how much do you believe them or were they just trying to keep you hanging on orange.0 -
I thought O2 had a 5 year exclusive deal with Apple.0
-
They have which is why I thought it strange0
-
Take note, the Orange unlimited web usage is 30 MB per month.
Vodafone is 500MB, 3 & T-Mobile are 1GB per month.

I've heard nothing about Orange getting the iPhone.
It does sound like the may just be trying to keep you with them.
I would try and check if it's true, but then I wouldn't have a clue where to call/write to to check! Maybe email apple?0 -
Just to back up OP: T'internet grapevine in recent days has suggested that Orange may indeed be getting the iPhone in the Autumn. Something about O2 not meeting required T&Cs of the exclusivity deal and Apple thus having the right to terminate the deal and offer to a second carrier, or along those lines anyway.
OP - let us know how you get onAlthough I agree with everybody else - if you can get the iPhone in 6 weeks' time on Orange for a discounted rate, that's infinitely better than losing any loyalty bonus to get it sooner.
