            I hope you got a GP appointment this afternoon? If not you could try calling NHS direct, who can go through some symptoms with you and say whether you should be seen by somebody, it might be an out-of-hours clinic if your GP is closed now.
 When i had cramps, spotting and breathlessness I was sent to an out-of-hours doctor who sent me up to the hospital because there were some indications for possible ectopic pregnancy. They couldn't scan me until the morning though, although I suppose they might have procedures for getting an emergency scan if somebody is very ill.
 Fingers crossed that this is an implantation cramp. I remember being in agony at that stage with my second pregnancy but there was nothing wrong. All 3 of my pregnancies have been very different so I won't say 'oh it's such and such'.
 *HUGS*
 p.s. in my area it's normal to have the 12 weeks scan before you see a midwife, by which time lots of women have had spotting, or didn't find out about folic acid etc - perhaps the GP or receptionist could hand out the 'emma's diary' pack.'bad mothers club' member 13

            I had the worst period type cramps and pains, along with dizzyness and i almost passed out on several occassions- at the begining of my pregnancy. I honestly thought my period was going to arrive. so all may well be ok. Im due to give birth in less then ten weeks so dont panick.
 Also agree with others-you dont always get to see the midwife really early on unless there are compications, ie i saw mine early because i have high bp and they needed to keep a check on my meds etc.
 All the best. x xMommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0

 I was in the middle of John Lewis's and was dizzy, it was near the accounts desk so i was able to sit down, loads of women staring at me, one whispered to another 'drunk'.
 I got up walked up to her and said, no dear don't assume I'm drunk, I'm pregnant.
 You never saw a woman move so fast to make a fuss over me get me to sit back down and demand someone get me some water.
 quite funny now but annoyed me then.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0

 This happened to my pregnant friend a few weeeks back. She collapsed in the Street on the way to collect her son and someone rang an ambulance. She just went dizzy and passed out.
 She was scanned and at first it was suggested ectopic pregnancy, low blood pressure.. but now she needs a stitch before 14 weeks as she has a week cervix or something.
 She was so embarassed.:cool:0

            OP, I had lots of cramps in the early stages of this pregnancy (30 weeks now) and I was convinced my period would show up. It's probably just stretching pains as your womb is growing and the other muscles in your abdomen have to stretch too. Try not to worry. I was advised to call the EPU if I had any severe pain or bleeding, but anything else was more than likely just par for the course.
 As for booking in - we saw our GP at 5 weeks like you, he sent off the forms for our scan himself. So although I didn't book in with the midwife until 11 weeks (they do it between 10-12 weeks here no matter when you report to GP) I still got my scan at 12 weeks with no problems. HTH.
 Congratulations by the way!! :www: :: MFi3 :: :www: :: MFi3 ::

            I got an appointment today but not with my own dr because she isin't in the surgery this week.
 Dr said "It is common to have cramping pains but if they get severe or any bleeding to come back" and he will send me for a scan.
