cramping pains in early pregnancy

Worrying about it won't be doing you any good, so you should get yourself checked out for peace of mind! If you can't get in with the midwife, go and see your GP.
I've got 3 monsters now, and with one I had similar pains early on. Went to see the GP and got a scan the same day at the hospital. The relief seeing DD2 on the screen was overwhelming, and I was told it was implantation pains too.
Good luck, I really hope you can get seen by someone xxx96 items decluttered so far in 2013

you may not 'allowed' to see your midwife but it's not stopping you having a quick check up with the gp.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0

I am going to ring my gp and get an appointment with her just to be on the safe side.0 -
Hi Tia,
I can complete understand how worried you are, but I agree with the other posters that it's likely to be implantation pains which are very 'cramp' like. I had them along with some heavy bleeding at 5-6 weeks so my doc sent me for a scan at the Early Pregnancy Unit. I'm now 30 weeks pregnant with a very active little boy.
No one tells you about all the potential problems you can encounter and how even though you may be going out of your mind with worry - many of them are quite normal :0)

I am possibly 5-6 weeks pregnant...did test which was positive, confirmed by the nurse at my GP. However haven't had a period since I stopped taking pill so hard to be accurate. I haven't been told I am "not allowed" to see midwife but that they cannot fit me in until 13th August due to holidays!!! So despite the nurse saying I need the scan to ascertain how far gone I am, I've just gotta wait!!! (no way can afford private scan)
I am however like the OP experiencing a "stitch" on and off and since stopping pill have had "period pains" until recently. I also either feel ravenously hungry or bloated as if overeaten so can't seem to win!!!
(ps. Will join pregnancy club when I know what's going on:o)Laughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0 -
At my local hospital they have an Early Pregnancy and some thing soething unit. I had some problems in early pregnancy including bleeding and was seen there. They did a scan at 6 weeks to check everything was okay. I think most hospitals have some kind of siilar unit - ring the hospital switch board and ask to be put through - you can have a chat with them, see what they suggest.0

Who told you you couldn't see a midwife until 12 weeks btw? Sounds ridiculous to me? By 12 weeks you should already be having your first scan in many areas!
I got my first phone call from a midwife the day I was 12 weeks, having already been to GP to register as pg at 8 weeks (discharged from IVF clinic). We'd already booked private nuchal fold scan by then, and had the blood work taken by practice nurse at gp surgery the previous week.
I think it does vary significantly area by area - if I'd not booked the nuchal fold scan, the only one offered in this area is the 20 week one.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
If it was anything sinister it would have happened by now, most MC are accompanied by bleeding within the first day of pains, usually blood preceeds the pain if you get what i mean.
If the pain does increase dramatically, gut wrenching agony get to A&E asap.
Twinging sporadic pains are very very common throughout pregnancy, if any one says they had a pain free pregnancy they are lying! Ligaments relax stretch from very early on due to hormanal reasons then later on due to the babies size.0 -
With my 2nd pregnancy I had to wait 12 weeks to see a midwife and 20 weeks for a scan. This is pretty normal in our area.
I had the same pains as you describe in both my pregnancies and my boys are fine. Still think you should be checked though to put your mind at rest.
Hope you are ok

I'm a midwife and just wish to say that if if you are worried you should seek professional medical advice - in this case see your GP. If you wish to speak to a MW and you are not yet 'booked', then you simply need to phone your local maternity unit, and a MW will be pleased to help you.
There are innocent potential causes and so do go and checked out by the professionals who see the bigger picture regarding you and your health needs, and can act accordingly.0
