No. Audio CDs do not normally contain data files such as those stored on your computer.Donnie wrote:Convert .wma files to full size .wav files?
Here's what I could dig up with Google on the CDDA (Compact Disc Digital Audio) format:0 -
Hi TangleFoot
If you took a closer look at the links you have provided you would note that .wav files are encoded in the PCM format for playback in standard CD players.
I won't bother to bang on about it, but I am reasonably sure that an application would convert the file to a .wav file in the PCM format. Otherwise it would remain in the original .wma file structure.
Anyway, I hope this thread will be of some use to someone. It's just got a little complicated.0 -
Just because they're both encoded in PCM doesn't necessarily mean that they're the same thing. A file is nothing more than a container of information, a 'wrapper' for data. Files and their contents are distinct entities.Donnie wrote:If you took a closer look at the links you have provided you would note that .wav files are encoded in the PCM format for playback in standard CD players.
If you burned a CD full of WAVE files, no standard CD player would read it because it would have been written in an entirely different format.0 -
Oops! Forget about what I just wrote. Nero would do a perfectly adequate job of making a CD from .wma, mp3...
No need to convert it to a full size file for an audio CD.0 -
As would Windows Media Player 10; to all intents and purposes, they work in much the same way. Nero uses its own authoring engine, whilst WMP10 uses the system bundled with Windows XP by default.Donnie wrote:Nero would do a perfectly adequate job of making a CD from .wma, mp3...

For users of previous versions of Windows (98SE, ME and 2000), WMP9 along with the Nero Fast Burn Plug-in should provide similar functionality.0
