If one is not using XP, theY are not using WMP10.
I can't find the part of WMP10 that converts .wma files to .wav/cda files.
Maybe you can help?0 -

convert it straight away with no hassle...
Read the link, and you will understand what I meant.
Better still download it, as its a cool little tool.
It seems that the OP wants to convert his .wma files to a format playable on his CD player.... No question about converting bought CDs to mp3 format.0 -
seanparkin wrote:Tanglefoot is technically correct, the wav format and red book audio formats are different - their only similarity are both are uncompressed audio streams.
TangleFoot would be correct only if WMP10 converted .wma files to .cda, not .wma files.
It would be informative if someone would do such a conversion and report what type of file is produced.
I'm not using XP at the moment, so I can't take a look for myself.0 -
WMP10 DOES convert them to .cda - it just doesn't store these on your hard drive (instead it burns them directly to the CD).
Why on earth would it need to store the CDA files? They take up an immense amount of space and aren't needed for anything at all!!DONE: Great North Run 09! Raised £452 for the National Autistic Society

I'm not sure anyone has written about STORING .cda files.
.cda files in themselves are quite small and only act as shortcuts to the files to be accessed.
My question was aimed at ascertaining whether WMP10 converted the .wma files to .wav files before burning. I can't find the file converter within WMP10.
Mr Skint
The problem in posting things that aren't relevant is that it adds confusion.
Someone reading this thread to find a solution to a problem could be misled into thinking that yours was a solution.
dbpoweramp not only rips to many formats, it also converts between them.
So when you posted, naturally I took a look to see if it improved on my current solution.
Only to then find it didn't even address the basic problem.
Can be confusing for newbies.0 -

As someone else could view this thread and think Oh gosh thats the kinda thing I was after, The forum is an open forum, You or I dont own it and thus can post what we like in any kind of relevance....
Thus this post is about Audio, I posted about Audio...
Youll Understand how it all works after a few more posts..0 -
That's because there isn't one. WMP10 only has the capability to create audio files from an audio CD or create an audio CD from audio files; it can't convert between differing file formats.Donnie wrote:My question was aimed at ascertaining whether WMP10 converted the .wma files to .wav files before burning. I'm a little unclear now...
So, does WMP10 do the job that the OP needs it to do? Convert .wma files to full size .wav files?
Erm...Mr Skint, if you take a look at our respective joining dates....
I spend up to nine months outside this country annually, so no posting whilst abroad.
But, when I do post... :-)
The post is about converting .wma to a format playable on a CD player.
If we use your definition we can start discussing our favourite music.
Don't take it so badly.0 -
