Sounds to me like you should've found somewhere else to park entirely!

A parking fine for parking on the pavement was issued because you parked on the pavement, perhaps you shouls appeal to get half of it waivered as it was only 2 wheels............

Why didn't you find somewhere legal to park? We have loads of pavement parkers round here, now we also have lots of uneven pavements where the slabs have cracked and the tarmac has sunk.

No doubt the OP would have been on complaining if someone had scraped their car while it was illegally parked on a footway.
Appealing the case is a nonsense. Parking on the footway is illegal unless there is an exemption. If your case is successfully appealled then it's because the council decided it wouldn't be worth pursuing it and not because you're right.

Next time try to avoid parking in areas designed for pedestrians.

  • I logged in today to find out a solution to what I now know is a wrongly enforced parking fine. No thanks to these threads, full of self-righteous drivel from what i can only believe to be traffic wardens, Health and Safety Officers, Anti-car morons and/or guardians of our morals, on their day off ( or as I suspect, they have every day off). Im sure if half of these plebs had their way we would live in a 'Utopia' of few or no cars and even less personal freedom. This country needs fewer restrictions on our everyday lives not more you idiots.

Now you've got that of your chest (being nice to newbies see?) perhaps you'd like to share the circumstances around your wrongly enforced parking fine?

Unless you are just trolling why did you ressurect a 3 year old thread just to call people idiots?

    Cheers

Personally, I'd rather not choke on more car exhaust fumes.

What a completely pointless post. Why not explain how your ticket came about and explain how you know it's wrong, and if you have appealed it yet.

The OP of this thread was in the wrong and got a ticket, I don't see that the replies he got could have been any better - do you? If you do, then say why.

I would just pay up. Yes it's annoying but ultimately you were in the wrong - parking on the pavement is illegal.

    AFAIK
No its not illegal, it's only illegal if you block the pavement or there is a council bylaw in place to make it illegal per se.

    Only in London...http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069860?CID=TAT&PLA=url_mon&CRE=highwaycode_parking

Point number 244. You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.

It's not really illegal as in a criminal offence as it's all been decriminalized it's just a breach of a bye-law and the council will give you a penalty for that breach.

    Morning!
We went to a BBQ yesterday (Sunday!) and parked in a residential road. We parked on the road but with 2 wheels on the pavement .... We came back to find that we'd been given a parking fine.
I am very pleased to hear that :T
