Wow, if that was what was happening it would be quite remarkable.
It just means you won't be able to carry out all those outside Ebay transactions you like so much because they keep banning you!.0 -

Not quite. They are only anonymising the email addresses where users are not already in a transaction, once the transaction has gone through users will have each others emails.
I don't see this as a problem really as it might stop the blooming nuisance spam emails I get on one of my accounts offering me all sorts of goods I don't want.
The tamebay announcement states:
This means that buyers and sellers will no longer have access to each other’s email addresses prior to a sale. Only once a bidder has won an item will the buyer and seller be able to email each other off eBay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You can already "hide email address from buyer" when replying. Is there another way to acquire the email address?0

Where there's a will there's a way.
I see you're still more interested in ebay saving money rather than your fellow money savers..."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

So no more "how much to end the auction now" emails?
Thus ensuring that ebay always gets the fees....
But perhaps you're right, perhaps this has more to do with ebay worrying about it's dear users inboxes filling with spam, and nothing to do with protecting ebays profits?
Watch out for flying pigs..."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

So I wonder how many listing templates will need to be changed because people have their email address on them? And how many 'About Me' pages, and custom shop pages will also need changing?
If it is anything like the 14 day return policy, there will not be any decent bulk edit facility available either. Half of my shop listings still display a 7 day return. I'll let ebay remove them if it upsets them that much!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Pain in the backside this. a) makes by-passing ebay harder b) you can't link in ebay messages. eg. to google maps if someone is coming to collect c) you can't reply twice as you get 'you've already replied to this message', so for example if someone asks how much shipping is to Hawaii, I like to reply straight away saying we'll have a look for the cheapest and get back to you in a few hours, then when you do ebay says no..you then have to go contact member, what a palaver!
In summary I cannot stand ebay messages.0 -
Personally the 'no spam from people who think because I bid on a Star Trek box set want to know about each and every item that mentions Star Trek they are planning to list in case I want them to make an offer' is brilliant. Saves me the trouble of reporting them all to ebay for making me off ebay offers and bothering me with spam.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. With regards to ebay spam, MS Outlook filters out almost everyone. So not really a issue for me.0
