I did exactly as you said,and have just had the following text from O2,on first sim i tried to add over the phone

o2"Sorry,you need to top-up before you choose your bolt on treat.Once you have made your top-up please choose your Bolt-On again.Terms o2.co.uk."

I sent a text for the second sim so i shall await the full 48 hours and see if anything turns up.

got an o2 sim card in the post monday. Registered it (but haven't got my 2.50 credit yet) and transferred my old 3 number to it. since the card doesn't have any use as such , I applied for this offer (calls50)

I got an instant reply from 02 saying "Thank you, your request for CALLS50 will be processed within 48 hours. You will receive a confirmation text when your Bolt On begins. Terms at https://www.o2.co.uk.

My sim is a multimedia sim (new packaging from old)

(btw - I mean my card doesn't have any use 'cos I'm going to transfer the number _back_ to my new 3 contract)

hey all of you leave MUHAMID alone he is right i have just called to india for 30 minutes and it did not cut me off or i don have any credits in the phone either. I register for call 50 boltons on wednesday had confirmation yesterday about applied as per my previous post n after 48 hours today it worked.

basically when you call 07744 number it says your balance is low but it does not get cutt off you carry on dialling the number and then dial your desti number. many thanks to MUHAMID for the initial post.

After reading MUHAMID's OP, I texted the Calls50 message to O2.
I recieved a message back saying they would let me know in 48 hours.
Then after reading the O2 site, I figured out I would be charged for this, so I sent the message to cancel this.

I have not paid any money into the account, but I did register the sim, so O2 gave me 2.50 credit.

I've just had a text saying-

O2: Your FREE bolt on has been loaded onto your account and you will receive the benefits of this until 200106

Unfortunately, I'm overseas now and can't test it. Really they shouldn't have even got my text as the phone said the message failed.

I may have wasted the joining treats offer for this sim, but luckily I have another sim.

It will be interesting to know if others have got and are using the FREE 50 mins without topping up?

it has worked on one of my sims (tried about 4 of them new and old) and last night i got the same message as z1000000. and got free calls on that sim last night and am still getting them now. the sim had no credit on it whatso ever

I dont think any one was picking on Muhamid, just trying to establish the facts.

The problem does appear to be that people were assuming it should work before 48 hours, as i was. Thanks Muhamid for clarifying the situation.

No doubt you are all aware that the sims will become unuseable,because 02 will cut them off for misuse,or costly as they will take the money used out of your credit later.

turned on the bolt-on for 50 free minutes on 3 sims they all came back with the following reply

i havent registered to claim the $2.50 credit with the sims as yet....

did you get the free minutes after you received the o2 message that you needed credit on the sim ?

or did you get the free minutes sending the sms for the bolt on ?

Or worse still, send you a bill since once you register the SIM, O2 have your name and address
