SuziQ, I'm thinking the same thing myself some days, and it's mainly because of the chicken. I'd rather buy a bigger one, and cook it with roast potatoes, and the standard just isn't big enough. However, I like the standard's size for other things - scones, focaccia, deep dish pizza. I'm not really sure I've made the right decision, but for most of the things I've made, the standard has been ideal and I'm telling myself it wouldn't be worth the hassle changing/worktop space/infrequent need to get the grand.
Thanks for the ghp. I haven't had it long yet-I did make a really delicious shepherds pie for the kids yesterday (I don't eat meat) and there was more than enough for the 3 of them even though the 2 eldest have adult appetites!
Yes.............I think your advice is really sound and makes me feel much better! My daughter is off to Uni soon and it will be just me and the younger two. I have a perfectly good gas cooker, and to be economical I can cook a large chicken (probably bigger than would fit the grand!) and cook the roasties, yorkies (yes we are heathens and the kids like yorkies with any roast!) my fish/quorn and cook a pud in there as well-that is probably more economical than cooking in the grand as it's gas and I would get enough to make another couple of meals.
Your post has decided me to stick with what I have (I probably couldn't have swapped it anyway but have made my mind up now.)Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -

Your pot ha decided me to tick with what I have (I probably couldn't have swapped it anyway but have made my mind up now.)
I think each of us has justified the other's decision! My cooker's gas too, and you're right, the oven could be filled with a large chicken and all the other bits and bobs.
I think I might just try your idea of Yorkshire puds with chicken ... how about chook-in-the-holein the Remoska with the leftovers from the roast? Hmm ...

Oh god I am so embarassed I just rang Lakeland to try and order the Remoska and get it a tenner cheaper. But they were asking all sorts of questions about the catalogue and what was on various pages. They have removed the out of the kitchen catalogue from their website now so couldnt check up on it.In the end I just skulked away as the woman got quite nasty.I think I'll pay the full price and order over the net from now on

How long would a chicken take to cook in the remoska?
Would it be possible to halve it (bit fiddly i know) and cook half one day for a meal and half another?
I love chicken so i`m really interested:D

No don`t! i almost did this, wait until later and try again as you will get someone else answering.
When they answer the phone do what i did, i told them a person at work had shown me the catalogue with the old price in and when i went to order it i noticed the price difference so i thought i`d better ring to check. I did say that i noticed the catalogue ran out at the end of this month.
I was so nervous but it was so easy!
Good luck

I wouldn't. Maybe the staff member was just jealous that she doesn't have one. You could do what Sqiggles did and just order by post. Think you just put a cheque in the post with the reference for the product or try calling again and hope you get a different member of staff. All their staff are usually so helpful, certainly wouldn't give up and pay full price though.0 -
ok so who thinks Lakeland are reading this thread?!0

I think they are aware of this thread and aware of the fact we've spotted the price difference. The catalogue has been removed online and the woman on the phone wanted to know the design on the front of the catalogue. When I said the kids had ripped it off she then asked me what was on page 3.It was horrific and like being interrogated and I wouldnt mind I hadnt even rung to order at the reduced price I'd merely enquired why the online price was higher than the catalogue one!Hubby says to ring back tomorrow and try again but I was so embarassed cos come on I dont have the catalogue and was just trying to wing it

I wouldn't feel bad about trying to get it at the original price, after all they have guaranteed the price until the end of August so its not like you are cheating anyone. Try what the other posters have said, otherwise do it by post with a cheque
I know what you guys mean about the size, in an ideal world we would all have a standard and a grand and have room for them all! I have made a lot of curry today and when I put it all in I didn't have room for my rice! I could have squeezed it all in but it was getting messy so I have done it in the pan, I'll know for next time. Anyway, I need to exercise some portion control and there's nothing wrong with filling up on bread and water!
I think I'll do the rice in the pan and the curry in the pan seperator next time, see how it goes...its looking good anyway (starving now..)Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
Save £12k in 2013 no.34 £11,800/£12,000
'How much can you save' thread = £7,050
Total=£29,100
Mfi3 no. 88: Balance Jan '06 = £63,000.
Balance 23.11.09 = £nil.0 -
I'm one of the earlier posters who got my Moska at the 'old' price, because I did have the catalogue. But you shouldn't feel uncomfortable - the Moska was in that catalogue and they clearly state that the prices in it would be the same until August 31st, so it's a bit cheeky of them to put them up before then. I wonder if they do read this thread, they must have noticed a surge in demand, but we're all scattered about the country so it's not as if we're all from one branch of the WI or something - and what if we were anyway ?
Hello Lakeland !!! Anyone out there reading this ? We LOVE our Remoskas, even though you did a silly with your prices and are quite improperly making one or two of us feel guilty. :beer:0
