Would the "standard" Remoska be big enough to cook a chicken and roast spuds together, or would I need to cook the chicken then cook the spuds after the chicken has finished:confused: ....our chickens are normally medium, small or pieces.

Sorry, didnt get answered last time.

Hi Pen Pin, if you look on the Lakeland website they have a video demo showing a chicken and roast spuds being cooked together. I would do a link but can't! It will give you an idea of the size also.

    Hope this helps??

Hi Pennypincher, have you seen this clip? http://www.lakeland.co.uk/standard-remoska!REG-electric-cooker/F/keyword/remoska/product/2511 I cooked a chicken in mine yesterday and if it had been smaller I could have put the spuds in with it too.

  • Hi There

We are a family of 3 with healthy appetites...what size would you suggest? I normally make extra to have for lunch the next day. I would really love to be able to cook the main and sides (spuds, roasted veg etc) all at the same time....could I also cook a pudding in there too if I went for the Grande?

Can I ask how heavy it is? My hands/muscles ect are all very weak.

    Thanks

    PP

Hi Pennypincher, there are 4 of us and the standard is big enough for us as I tend to serve bread and a salad with everything anyway. I originally bought the grand but sent it back as it was far too big for us. Some fellow remoskans on this thread like their grand though so I suppose its what suits your family. The lid isn't that heavy but you need to be careful because of the heat of it. I make sure that I clear a space for the lid before I take it off.

I'm going to have a go at chicken breasts in the leftover ratatouille tomorrow and cook some bulgar wheat in the separator pan too.

    Thanks for this.

On a Sunday we will generally have a chicken (small or medium), then roasted spuds (2 large ones each-so 6 in total), then maybe roasted parsnips. Do you think this would fit in the standard one:confused:

Other days are things such as sausage cassarole but I could still do this in the SC and do roast spuds in the ramoska to accompany it I suppose? Liver is another meal we like. How would I cook Lamb Chops etc....sorry Im such a div.

Do I need to buy the seperator and rack:confused:

I also have £20 of vouchers...can I use these over the phone?

    Thanks

Do I need to buy the seperator and rack:confused:its not imperative, you could see how you go and get it if you need it, have you any ovenware that could double up for use in the remoska?

I also have £20 of vouchers...can I use these over the phone? you might have to ask on the phone heres some more info http://www.lakeland.co.uk/L?content=faq.htm

Jaybee I thought long and hard before forking out all me hard earned money on a Remoska, but I finally took the plunge and bought one after reading all the other peoples comments. How I wish I had stuck to my gut instincts- if it sounds too good it probably is. I was really disappointed with the results, burned food at the edges not cooked properly in the centre, in the end I gave up and returned it to Lakeland and got a full refund. I prefer my slow cooker and the microwave.

    Hi Penny-pincher!!

I would suggest you go along to a Lakeland shop if you have one near you and are able. I couldn't decide which size to get but when you see them it becomes clearer which one is suitable.

  • sorry you were disappointed with your remoska renegade, I suppose its not for everyone.
I'm going to have a go at a cake today, I looked in asda for some silicone bakeware but they didn't have any so I'm going to have a go at putting it straight in the pan, I thought I'd use a bero recipe as the one in the remoska cookbook only uses 1 1/2oz flour, don't know if this is normal as I'm not a baking expert. I got some ground almonds for 50p a bag in asda so I'll probably do an almond cake or I fancy a cherry madeira.

I bought silicone bakeware today on QVC (£15ish +p&P) for 8 pieces & a spatula. It seemed really good value. Would a loaf tin fit in the standard Remoska?

    Thanks J x

I am trying something completely new today. I am besotted with a new cookbook I got from amazon. the new moosewood cookbook. It was not new but as good as new. It is truly fab and is crammed full of veggie recipes. Its so good that it has re awakened my interest in cooking and with a vengance. Anyway this, in a nutshell, is what I am doing for this evening:

I made a pie base from grated potato, onion and herbs. It looks like rosti. Pressed it into the remoska and cooked it. While cooking I sauted and part cooked onions and cauli in small florets and herbs. Put grated cheese on the base. Cover it with the veg. I`m cooling it now but will add the other half of cheese and then beaten eggs and milk. Then it has to be baked again. So far so good. It smells divine

I did the most wonderful minestrone from a moosewood recipe this morning and its enough for 3 days

I am so besotted with the book (and it is gorgeous to read) that I have ordered about another 5 for me (well it was pouring all day and I think I did well curtailing my internet shopping) plus some small new ones from amazon for my children`s christmas baskets

Tomorrow I am going to experiment again. I have woken up my sleeping sourdough starter and am feeding it ready for bread tomorrow. I may or may not use the remoska as there may be too much dough so I may use the bm but we`ll see. I could also split the dough and do a bit in each. I so miss my sourdough bread
