Quick question for anyone that has a remoska grand and a 12ltr halogen oven - searched the thread but got no results...

Will the remoska grand lid/heating element fit on the bowl of the halogen oven? The remoska grand pan is listed as 32cm in diameter, my bowl is about 33cm across. I wonder if the diameter of the remoska pan is measured internally or externally...

I have a few good (and pretty boring) reason why I would like to do this, just interested in whether the lid will fit on the halogen bowl. :)

Thanks very much do appreciate your help :)
I have a Halogen Oven..(the one from Ideal World..12litre i think,)we rest the Remoska lid on the halogen bowl when its hot,it sits on it OK..not "neatly" tho..I dont think i would try cooking with the combination of Remoska lid and Halogen oven bowl,is that what you meant?

Nice easy recipe I did last night:
I have had a VERY sore throat for several days and not been eating but last night was v hungry and felt like something soothing but tasty.
I chopped a couple of leeks into small rounds, and a few peeled spuds (whites)into slices. I washed and dried the spuds and put them in the Remoska with a small pot single cream I had left over, salt and pepper, good stir and left them for about 1/2 hour. Then I drained and added the leeks, stirring well + salt and pepper. About 1/2 hour it was all cooked, melting and very tasty. He had some sausages and I grated some cheese over mine. Very rich and fattening but great if you haven't eaten properly for days and want something gentle on the throat. In future I might try with stock instead of cream, and maybe do some bacon to go with it. Easy to do, needs little supervision and only one pan to wash up - Hoorah !

Try looking in the pound shop, for one of those mesh baking sheets and cut it to size. I did this for the racks in my halagen oven. Works a treat.

Great idea - was it difficult to cut?
  • I bought my standard Remoska in 2003 when we were moving house and knew the cooker wouldn't be delivered and installed for a week or two. I wouldn't be without it now, and hardly ever use the big oven (though I do use the combination microwave at times).

My question is this - the lid (especially the glass panel) has built up a layer of burnt on grease - what's the best way to clean it? Anything else would get a good soak followed by a scour, or would be bunged in the DW, but I'm nervous about getting it too wet.

I do wipe it over with a damp cloth with a bit of cream cleanser as it cools, but it no longer does the trick. Any suggestions?

My lid gets very brown and nasty as I only clean it properly when really in the mood. I damp a kitchen cloth and squidge some washing up liquid onto it and then sit that on the glass (not on the metal) ane leave it a bit to 'soften' the brown stuff. Then I scrub the glass gently with Barkeeper's Friend on a cloth, and really scrubbing at it industriously makes it pretty good again. I dont do anything to the inside metal bits of the lid as I dont want to get it wet, so just wipe over gently with only slightly damp cloth. It's been fine for about 4 years now - my favourite kitchen helper as hardly ever put big oven on now....(and it needs a darn good clean too !)
  • Thanks Morgan - sorry not to have got back to thank you before.

Haven't got the Barkeepers Friend yet, but just leaving the detergenty cloth soaking on the glass has already helped a bit. Come pension day I'll go to Lakeland, as I know they stock the stuff.

Watch out you grease, here I come!

I use my remoska 2 or 3 times a week, it's really useful for making many dishes.

Just wondering whether anyone has made Toad in the Hole using their remoska.

Would be grateful for any advice.

    Hi Libra!
We make the most delicious yorkie pud in the moska - it rises beautifully and we haven't had a failure yet. Usual batter recipe works fine. I would brown the sausages off a bit first in the oil to make them nice and brown.

I LOVE MY MOSKA and wouldn't be without it. I use it once, sometimes even twice a day. In comb with the SC, the main range hardly ever gets turned on - only when family come a Christmas etc.

Libra, put 'Remoska Toad in the hole' into the search thingie and lots of scattered references and ideas come up. I cook the sausages a bit first (you could wrap them in bacon too) poss with some onions, then pour in your usual yorkshire recipe and go away and leave it. keep an eye on it in the last few minutes as in my standard Moska it puffs up hugely and nudges the lid. Very delicious !(I put mustard and a few mixed herbs in my yourkshire mix.)

My Remoska is only around 18months old,but im sure its losing power..seems to be taking longer to cook things, and more worrying the tefal coating is coming off the lid.(a bit like peeling paint)
Im still gonna try and make some butternut squash soup in it today, but i think il have a trip to lakeland soon to test out their "lifetime" guarantee.
