I have had my Remoska for two weeks now and I absolutely love it :j :j
I haven't used my fan oven once and I have barely used the hob either.
I have cooked pasta bake, rice, various soups, veggie boglonese, roasted veg, jacket pots, risotto and apple crumble. I haven't tried scones or cakes yet,but they are next on the agenda and also bread rolls too.The soda bread recipe above sounds lovely,I shall certainly be trying that.
I just wish I had bought a Remoska years ago,it is brilliant.0 -

I was lucky enough to be given a grand Remoska for Christmas and whilst I am fairly pleased with it, it does seem to take an absolute age to cook anything.
Tonight I 'cooked' oven chips and they took nearly an hour. Is this normal? If Plan A fails, remember there are 25 more letters0 -
Yes, that is normal.0

Goodness, why is everyone raving about them then?0

Is it a good idea to warm it up empty first, whilst I am preparing the food (opening the packet of frozen oven chips!!)If Plan A fails, remember there are 25 more letters0 -
Hi TJP70
I also got a Grand Remoska at Christmas and it has taken me some time to get used to it. It can take a bit longer than a conventional oven, but an hour for oven chips sounds too long to me.By oven chips do you mean frozen oven chips or homemade oven chips (potato wedges)?
I found I get best results with things that need to be crispy if I preheat the remoska for at least 10 minutes first. You can do this with a small bowl of water in it or pop in a tiny amount of oil into the pan. I made homemade potato wedges last night in mine and they were gorgeous and crispy (this is after a few failed attempts!). I preheated the remoska with some olive oil in it for about 10 minutes and then chucked in my raw potato wedges which had been tossed in some seasoned flour (S&P and some chilli for a kick). They crisped up lovely. I reckon they were ready in about 40-45 minutes - not that much longer than a conventional oven for HM wedges.
You may also find you get quicker results if you invest in the shallow pan (I've not done this yet), particularly if you have the Grand Remoska. Have you got the rack for the remoska? I also have a small non-stick metal pizza tray which fits on top of the rack - this speeds up the process for anything that needs crisping up.
If you have any questions - there are tons of people on here who will be happy to share tips and ideas. I certainly wouldn't be without my Moski now and we can already see a massive difference in our electricity usage.:DGC May £178/£250 NSD0 -

I have come to the conclusion that is the issue. I need to get a shallow pan because the grande is massive and as much as I like it and use it alot, (see http://ayearofremoska.blogspot.com/) it does take ages to cook.0 -

Many people say warm it up first, to reduce cooking time, but this doesn't alter the time you have to wait for your chips.
If you put the chips in a cold remoska and it takes 60 minutes to cook the chips, heating the remoska for 10 minutes first may mean they only take 50 minutes to cook. But you've still waited 60 minutes to eat them.
Also, if it takes the remoska 5 minutes to get as hot as it's going to get then you have wasted 5 minutes.0
