Just read a tip about pre-heating the remoska. If you want to do this because you are cooking something that *should* go into a pre-heated oven then put a small bowl of water in the remoska and heat while you prepare the food. Remove dish of water and replace with food to be cooked.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned haven't had time to read the thread for a while.People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading

I went to Windermere today and bought a Grand remoska, I also got the rack and the recipe book. (and a few other bits and pieces)
Treated myself to lunch in the cafe and got given a dodgy pager, the chap on the desk was most indignant that I had ignored it and he had paged me several times......I was using the internet right by the desk at the time
So, to put it to the test, I called into M&S and bought a small pie and some chunky chips for Mr Twit's tea. The chips went crunchy without looking burnt and the pie looked good also.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I have been using a standard size Remoska for some months now and I think it is great. I live on my own and find that I hardly ever turn on my oven now. I cook bread in the Remoska (any recipe) and although the loaf is flatter than when done in a loaf tin, it tastes just as good. I regularly make flapjacks in the Remoska and find they cook better than in my fan oven. I have also made shortbread and scones in the Remoska as well as the more usual things, such as soup and roast veg. (I am vegetarian so no experience of cooking meat in the Remoska.)
Only quibbles are that I feel the pans are a wee bit tinny for the price and the non-stick damages very quickly. You do need to take care. Also, I find it hard to keep the outside of the Remoska looking clean. (Any tips on this one?) Nevertheless, I would not be without it now.0 -
i got a big oven but never use it - instead use a slow cookers and my combi mircowave - the oven is big enough for cooking roast dinner for 2 (my and O/H) but I have seen those little oven things that cook super fast, my sister had one at a pub she ran, a puff pasty pie lid cooked in a few mins - it was well impressive - is that what these Ramoskas are ??What goes around - comes around

I've thought these mini ovens looked interesting for years. But so expensive! So was thrilled to find a second hand baby remoska for £4 in a charity shop. Since then I've used it for baking endless spuds, cheese & potato pies, crumbles, cobblers etc., Did bubble & squeak for my breakfast today.
It's a nicer result than the microwave & way cheaper than using the oven when cooking for 2.
would be nice to share recipes...0 -
R.e. crispy roast potatoes. I couldn't get my pots to crisp when I was using olive oil - it was all I had at the time. I bought a bottle of Spry and I have had perfect roasties every time.
I now use the Spry for everything in the remoska.0 -
Oooh that's a good idea. Am off to buy some Spry now... Thanks0

The great thing about Lakeland is it's no questions asked refund guarantee, so you can try out a Remoska to see whether it suits you. Alas it didn't work for me, apart from producing some (2nd) prize winning scones for my local flower show using a Delia recipe, and a fabulous roast chicken, the results were very disappointing. So I would say it's good for some things and is not a kitchen all rounder. Example toad in the hole. using the Remoska recipe was stodgy and the sausages burnt. Using my own tried and tested recipe resulted in burnt pudding around the outside and flat in the middle with burnt sausages. Roast potatoes were another disappointment, despite the claims made in the literature and on the dedicated website.0
