I much prefer shopping in Sainsburys - better food, better basic range, better service, more courteous staff, etc

...but they don't take coupons like my Mr T does! ;)

I have always been very impressed with the quality of Sainsburys Value range.

me too, and they state if something is vegetarian and vegan - great for a value range!!!

  • I love the Sainsburys Basics range, I love Sainsburys reduced sections, and I love their jewellery (where sold) Especially when the jewelley is on 25% off - cheap way of creating a new look with existing clothes in my wardrobe, without spending lots of money on new clothes. Plus my Sainsburys jewellery always gets nice comments when I wear it (and folks always seem surprised when I tell them where it's from - They usually think it's from somewhere like Next!)

Was in Sainsbury's this morning and picked up

Olay Complete Care 'Everday Sunshine' moisturiser with tanner 50ml for £1.87, was £7.49. (dark tan only, light tan was only half price).

    Also, men's Mitchum Anti-perspirant 150ml for 50p, was £1.99.

I was in early and there was loads of fresh items reduced, as an earlier poster pointed out.

I always check the fresh meat counter in our Sainsburys and got some more good bargains there this evening - 4 burgers reduced from 99p each to 30p each - a 1.3 kg joint of beef - was £9.99 per kilo reduced to £2.99 a kilo!!!! Paid £3.30 ish and pork loin steaks reduced to £2.99 a kilo not sure what they were but over £5.00 a kilo. Always seem to have some good deals there. In the last few weeks have had 13 lamb kebabs for £5 (were £1.79 EACH!!) and braising steak down to £2.5 per kilo plus various other quality sausages, burgers and bacon. Its all freezable so gets chucked straight in the freezer.

Looking forward to roast beef tomorrow night now..........ummm - and sandwiches the next day....and so on...

I havent stepped foot in a Sainsbury since last June as this was when I discovered Tescos lovely coupon policy!

IMO Sainsbury will never compete with tesco as they do not let you use a coupon if you havent bought the product. If and when Tesco change their policy I might go back!
  • My local sainsburys always has deals on plenty of things. Obviously not everything I want all the time, but hey :)

I'm with the others that say that their "basics" range are better than other supermarket budget ranges. Their 'basic' salmon fillets are fantastic, their 'basic' mozzarella cheese tastes nicer than some 'proper' range stuff I've tested.

The News of the World article did have Sainsbury's as the dearest, but a few days earlier The Mirror had Sainsbury's as the cheapest. I guess it depends on which items the papers used for the basket.

Some deals on some departments will change this Wednesday but the vast majority of offers will change next Wednesday (23/07/08).
:o Oops, sorry - must have been Mirror !
