Cheap hotels near Eurostar Waterloo?

Hi

We're off to Paris for the weekend but as our train leaves Waterloo at 9am just wondered if anyone knew of any deals/good cheap hotels nearby so that we can go down the night before and not have to get up at the crack of dawn!

No £10 rooms from Travelodge available unfortunately

Thanks

Ok, you could try the Days Inn price guarentee to get a room at the Days inn Waterloo FREE.

Not sure when you are going but for example if you were staying this Thurs night: The days inn website is charging £99. If you book with them and find it cheaper they guarentee to give you the night free.

Hotelpronto.com and totalstay.com both have the same hotel and room allocation for £91 for the same night.

Full details of their rate guarentee are at http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInnUK/control/home

Make sure the room description is identical or they will not honour the deal. If it doesnt work out for you you simply cancel your booking-no risk. Better than staying in a B&B in Waterloo anyday.

This days inn offer has been well discussed on a thread on this site.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for that info - I'd never have known!!

So, Ive checked the days inn website for a standard double room for 2 people for 1 night Friday 21st October, and it gives me a rate of £71.20.

I've then looked at hotelpronto.com and the SAME room ie standard non-smoking double comes up as £57.

Does that then qualify for a free room? I can't believe it...... If so, then thankyou SO much!!!

Well, according to their terms and the others on here that have tried it YES IT DOES!

Just make sure the room descriptions, board basis are the same. Book it via Days inn then fill in their claim form online and cross your fingers. Loads of others have suceeded. The worst that can happen is you have to cancel the days in booking without charge. Some have reported that they try and weedle out but when pushed give in. They shouldnt have a guarentee if they arent willing to honour it. ........

    Best of luck matie

On a much earlier thread said the Days Inn place is very noisy. Near a police station and you get police cars screeching all night. Also lots of other traffic going past.

Other than that sounds a good deal.

Did you manage to book and get them to agree a refund that quick. Any problems? Will be using Days Inn in a month or so for a trip to London so interested in doing this myself for their Westminster Hotel.

Really pleased it worked for you. Looks like you can virtually walk to Waterloo Station from there. So what if its a bit noisy, it is Central London afterall and ITS FREE!!!!

  • Yep all booked and had an email back from Days Inn in less than 2 hours confirming it so very happy.

Never mind re noise, it's only for one night and as it's so close to Waterloo, don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to get there. Still, just be our luck to be unable to sleep because of the noise!!

Def look at this deal Kevin if you are going to London soon, I still can't believe we've managed it - thanks again.

  • No need to be that close to Waterloo.

I went Eurostar to Paris in the summer leaving Waterloo at 8am.

I got a good hotel in Mayfair cheap. From the hotel door to Eurostar Waterloo terminal on the jubilee line was only 15 minutes (Green Park to Waterloo).

https://www.londontown.com hotel search engine has a new OPAQUE service and you can get a 5* Hotel near Green Park tube station in Mayfair on the jubilee line for £98 for a double room. It looks like it is The Radisson Edwardian Mayfair, in Stratton St ideal for your early morning tube to Waterloo.

Recommend you try and get an upgrade to 1st class on Eurostar it is well worth it especially for the return journey if at dusk. The sun is setting and you are enjoying a chilled glass of complimentary champagne. Marvellous!
  • Thanks myles, but can't get better than a FREE room as it's only a stop-over really.

How do you go about getting an upgrade on Eurostar? Is it just a case of paying more, or do they upgrade folk much the same as on airlines if there are free seats?
  • I would ask at the desk to asscertain the situation for an ungrade.

The thing is for the 08.12 train (Saturdays) when ever I check the 1st class leisure select ticket is £5 cheaper than a standard ticket.

I have never understood why but it is not an error, maybe they only do it for day trips, but worth a play with the site.

If you play around with the Eurostar WEB site by booking a standard ticket to go out look what the price of a Leisure Select ticket for the return.
