Please don't buy too much yet. You might be given lots - I know I was!
And have a look in charity shops, and even jumble sales - I know our local Scout one is usually over-run with baby clothes, some of them practically brand new, and it is a crying shame because there is always lots left over at the end.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
If you want to buy nice items new, I reckon wait for the Gapkids sale, the Next sale and the M&S sale.
In the Next sale you need to have a look for baby clothes in the first week of the sale or it goes quickly. But many prices will be half price and it starts in a week I think! Don't go on the first two days though (Sat or Sun), it will be far far too busy for you when pregnant and there's no need if looking for baby stuff as there is lots available.
In Gapkids & M&S, they tend to add new lines and put prices down over the weeks from the end of July and during August. Packs of 3 sleepsuits in M&S last year towards the end of the sale were being sold for £2 IIRC.
I think I am right in saying that Gap put their sale prices down again each Thursday, and M&S seem to put their sale prices down again each Wednesday, during the sales.
If you want to buy nice items second hand, there is always your local NCT sale in the Autumn. Find your nearest nearly-new sale by having a look for the sale locator on the NCT website. I used to love these sales when my kids were smaller, not just clothing but toys & equipment for very low prices. Most areas have at least one sale every six months (Autumn and Spring).
The only thing to beware of is that the NCT sales get very busy so it's not a place to expect to go on your own with a huge bump or a newborn, you definitely need at least one person to help to find the bargains/hold the baby, and pile 'possible' items in a box or something whilst you look, etc. It's fun if you know what you are letting yourself in for! Some NCT sales have refreshments, depending on the hall set-up. Generally the quality is great as most sales vet the items and give strict guidelines to the sellers.

Gap? Are you kidding? I only ever went into Gap Kids once, and I walked straight out again. My boy has largely been dressed by George (ASDA) and Cherokee (Tesco). We've also been given a lot of "hand-me-downs" from one of my husband's collegues, who has a boy about two-years older than mine. You'll be surprised at what you're given, so don't buy too much before you have to.0

Aaaaah but when Gap Kids have a sale, it's normally very good and you can get some real proper bargains. I once bought my daughter a beautiful little dress and knickers set for £2.99. I would never poo-poo gap. They always have a reduced rail and you can always get a real bargain in there.
As to sleepsuits, I've just bought a pack of 3 terry towelling ones from Sainsburys for £4.50 and they've washed up lovely and are now folded up in my hospital bag.
I also bought a pack of 3 cotton ones for £4.0 -
the tesco ones i got have fold over cuffs as well and yep they're def better than scratch mitsDON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

I used to buy boots sleepsuits, sometmies with advantage points! When you join their mother and baby club you get loads of coupons giving extra points and they quickly mount up, especially if you are buying things like nappies (I used cloth nappies but still built up loads!)
My other favourite are M&S sleepsuits.
I have always found the quality of those two stores' baby things really good, whereas primark et al are a bit hit and miss.0 -

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You didn't go in July/August or post-xmas/January then I take it?
As wotnext rightly says, when Gapkids have a sale they REALLY have a sale!! Baby stuff for 99p and a lot nicer than in other stores. Many many better bargains than you would find in any other store, it's the best sale ever!
I only go in Gapkids when they have a sale on (or sometimes just to nosey at the sale rail that's usually there all year round). I would never pay their original prices but don't ignore the store at sale time or you are missing a treat! Don't miss it OP.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
