Blasted Royal Mail

Recently I have been having problems getting items delivered by Royal Mail.

The first was an e-cig I ordered from a seller on e-Bay who has got a very good reputation.

It never turned up (and still hasn't). The same week, friends sent me a letter containing car-park passes for Stonehenge. They posted this on the 19th June. After kicking up a stink with RM on Friday 28th June, the letter suddenly appeared the next day - over a week late and past the event:mad:

The seller of the e-cig sent me a replacement which I received no problem.

Earlier this week I ordered refills for my e-cig from a completely different seller (not e-Bay) who has an excellent reputation for fast delivery and customer services. What a surprise that hasn't turned up yet either:mad:

Deciding that someone is sticky fingered, has got the original e-cig and is now refilling it at my expense, I put in a small order the other day. The seller e-mailed me yesterday to tell me he had posted it. This time I have put it to my work's address. I don't think it's arrived yet, but it's still early in the day so I'll leave it until after lunchtime before I pop into the office (it's open on Saturdays).

Recently we got a new postman on and it's only since then that items have not been delivered. We also had a letter delivered that had obviously been opened but was junk mail. Unfortunately I didn't keep the envelope.

Not saying that it is the postman but it will be interesting to see if the second order goes missing too. Our office comes under the same first part of our postcode, which would imply, if the second order doesn't turn up that there is someone in the post office dealing with this postcode who is helping themselves.

Of course, we have to wait 14 days (or whatever it is) to lodge a complaint that they'll investigate. Meanwhile, I'm without my e-cig which is legal to"smoke" anywhere and I'm missing it.

Anyway, someone's going to be in for a nasty surprise. I'll wait a couple of weeks (let them "smoke" all my cartridges) and send myself a letter - complete with a rat trap inside;) When they steal my mail - broken fingers:mad::D

Bet they won't steal mail again:rotfl:

I bet the letter accusing you of criminality makes it through the post.
After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. Such is life.

They wouldn't know I'd posted it to myself. Anyway, that would leave them wide open to counter prosecution for theft and interfering with mail.

Of course, I could be into S&M:rotfl:

Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, I think it's quite easy for someone to look at a parcel or larger-than-normal envelope and decide to make it 'disappear' en route.

I once had a failed delivery of a parcel to my house, and because it came from the US, it had the value on the front as part of a Customs form (about £30). I had the card saying they'd tried to deliver, but when I arranged a redelivery, I got a call from the manager of the sorting office saying they had nothing with my name on it. So inbetween the attempted delivery and it returning to the sorting office it vanished - hmmmmm.

The problem is that Royal Mail don't care. As fare as they are concerned, the contract is with the sender, and they get very defensive if you point out your concerns about missing mail - how dare we accuse their staff of stealing?
  • We have a number of letters go missing, ones we have posted & they've never turned up. They have included a credit card bill, only knew it hadn't arrived when a phone call from the CC co asked why we hadn't paid!!
Also, I know for a fact that some of the local postmen take their mail before it's delivered to their homes. That is illegal.
A couple of years ago one told my DD that she was going to receive a parcel , & who it was from, AND what it contained!!!!!!! He was obvioulsy checking the mail of anyone whoes name he recgonised in the sorting office. Tried to report him as he had signed the offical secrets act, Royal mail not bothered at all.
Just as well DD knew what was going to arrive, it wasn't a secret that I had ordered the item for her.
Don't trust PO & Royal Mail at all now.
2011, this will be my year .

Second parcel so far has not arrived at my work. I'll give it until Tuesday (that's a full three days from posting) and if it hasn't turned up, I'll get the sender to e-mail me copies of the Certificates of Posting (he always gets them and said he would send them to me if I need them) and put the matter in the hands of the Police.

I was telling my brother in Scotland about it today and he said there was a similar case up there and the people concerned reported it to the Police. An investigation was launched by the Police with the co-operation of Royal Mail. They found 30,000 letters in the postman's house! He just couldn't be bothered delivering them.

The same thing happened here a few years ago. A kid walking through some fields nearby found some postman's bags full of letters that had never been delivered. The postman concerned was sacked immediately and prosecuted for interfering with mail.

If the second parcel doesn't turn up, then at least that will prove one thing - that it isn't the postman stealing but someone at the sorting office who deals with our area. Same postcode area, different postman.

    We shall see.

Order addressed to my workplace arrived today no problem at all. Would probably have been put among business mail rather than domestic mail so possibly different part of the sorting office.

However, I received an e-mail from one of my neighbours tonight. Seemingly her daughter, who lives about a mile away has had post going missing for some time but put it down to the postmen being afraid of a dog that lives in their street and not delivering the mail because of it.

One item was a card which has been cloned. After hearing from her mother what's happened to my mail, she and her husband are now going to pursue it.

I'm just waiting for a copy of the Certificate of Posting of my first order, then I'm going to the Police and lodging an official complaint.

I sent a normal letter on Friday first class which has still not arrived at its' destination.

Im also selling a car which is missing a stereo , ive ordered the stereo off ebay and it should have arrived today so i could fit it before my prospective buyer comes for a viewing tommorow.
Ive told the potential buyer that the car already has the said stereo, so im banking on it arriving in the next 24hours or this is going to cost me the sale, and then another £20 for relisting on autotrader.

    Damm you RM

I've just received by e-mail a copy of the Certificate of Posting from the seller so I can pursue the matter. I will let you know how I get on.

Would you believe it. The original order turned up this morning. It's only taken 12 days from the date of posting to arrive here:mad:

    Royal Mail is absolutely useless:mad:
