so you posted a letter on friday, what time? after the last pick up possibly
and then complain on the tuesday morning its not arrived....its shock horror, one whole day late

The last pick up is 5pm on a Friday afternoon, i made sure it was posted well in advance- the letter was urgent so i had made sure to get there at 4pm...

It was a first class stamp, i paid for one because i wanted it to arrive within the next day. The letter arrived at its' destination on Wednesday, three working days later.
I paid for first class but got second class service.

    Item not as described.

    Its a rip off.

  • I'll tell ya what I hate about the PO. The amount of people in the line who are only there to take money out of their bank accounts, or to pay their electric. Why can they not go to their bank or a hole in the wall? Or pay their electric bill over the phone, especially if you're going to pay at the PO with a debit card. And most of them smell stale. Ever since the PO moved into W H Smith, it's been a nightmare. I had to post something on Monday, the line was half way down the shop and out of 10 tills, 4 people were on.

    sorry for hijacking.

Because the PO offers these services?

    dont use royal mail then!
If you're a business customer, you can choose from someone else to collect your mail, but it still lands up being delivered through RM.

If you're a private individual, you're stuck until the government finishes opening things up to competition...

The NZ post does a better job of things, and I think they're privatised, but their Government's a majority shareholder by a huge amount.

    what do you mean finishes?
    the markets open
blame the easy set up that allows competitors not to deliver by choice
no universal service shackle for them

custardy, from what I understood of this so-called opening up of competition, it was going to work for business customers first, then everyone else was supposed to get a choice - a 2-stage process.

As we know, New Labour never finishes anything they start, except for worshipping George Bush's bum hole.

Because the Govt are after closing down various post offices and there is a campaign going (you may have seen posters on about Card Accounts Threatened or something of the like) and people are trying to use their local offices in order to prove that they are needed. Love or hate the PO, I'm sure we don't want to see half of them closed down, or do we? Instead of using the supermarket or online, I have begun going the extra mile to top up my phone or pay my bills or whatever just so the branch stays open. Then when I do need it, I don't have to go five miles to the one they want to keep open.

No, I don't work for them and don't know anyone that does, and RM service bugs me as much as the next person, but on this I will speak up.

    the markets open
the competitors choose not to deliver to you
it is far far cheaper for them to use downstream access to RM's service than deliver to you
when originally announced it was stated competitors would not be able to 'cherry pick' the services the provide
now thats exactly what has happened
those companies who have looked at delivery have already stated they wouldnt deliver to the whole of the UK and would do large citys at best

Well, at least the post round my area's ok with RM. Now it's the courier companies who can be a real problem on occasions (like having a depot in an area that is difficult to get to by public transport).
