I sent a normal letter on Friday first class which has still not arrived at its' destination.
Im also selling a car which is missing a stereo , ive ordered the stereo off ebay and it should have arrived today so i could fit it before my prospective buyer comes for a viewing tommorow.
Ive told the potential buyer that the car already has the said stereo, so im banking on it arriving in the next 24hours or this is going to cost me the sale, and then another £20 for relisting on autotrader.
Damm you RM
so you lied to the seller then rofl then blame Royal Mail!0 -

Also, I know for a fact that some of the local postmen take their mail before it's delivered to their homes. That is illegal.
A couple of years ago one told my DD that she was going to receive a parcel , & who it was from, AND what it contained!!!!!!! He was obvioulsy checking the mail of anyone whoes name he recgonised in the sorting office. Tried to report him as he had signed the offical secrets act, Royal mail not bothered at all.
Just as well DD knew what was going to arrive, it wasn't a secret that I had ordered the item for her.
Don't trust PO & Royal Mail at all now.
What do you mean "postman take their mail" ?0 -
To be honest.... Royal Mail handle millions and millions of items of mail every single mail... of course some of it goes missing.... Occassionally there are idiot postmen who steal stuff, and hopefully they get what they deserve and sent to prison. It's awful as these individuals make the whole company look bad. I work on a postal counter... and I quite frankly couldn't care less whats in your packet, and legally I'm not allowed to open it.
A lot of the times it one of the following -
Other people- people sending packets who don't tape them up properly/leave open parts which other mail can get trapped in... small letters often get caught in mail which is incorrectly packaged.
Sender idiocy - sending valuable or urgent items by normal mail. You are not insured for the item if you do this. It's worth paying a little extra to make sure you get it in one piece, and if you don't you have proof of value and sending. Royal Mail will only compensate you for an item if you can proove the value.0 -

If I'm sending, for example Christmas presents to my family up north, I use a courier. Sent a large box last year containing my grandson's first bike and all the prezzies for my family up there. It only cost £20 and was delivered next day.
Unfortunately, how someone sends something to me is outwith my control, particularly where the P&P is free or included in the price.
On this occasion, the problem was at the seller's end initially. On the Certificate of Posting it is date stamped by the PO as 4th July. On the package (which was properly addressed, sealed etc.) it is a Post Office pre-printed Postage Paid UK type - dated the 8th July. Received by me, today, 16th July, so it looks like it may have sat in the post office/sorting office at the other end then again somewhere between there and here. Total incompetence by the Post Office:mad:0 -

what aload of tosh this post is! :rotfl:0 -
it's always worth sending/requesting things by recorded or special delivery where possible (damn expensive though!)
I learnt this the hard way when last summer Royal Mail lost a credit card, marriage certificate, payslip (ID fraud, anyone?!) and whole load of eBay purchases. I sent a complaint in the end, having reported each item missing as and when it happened with no success, and they sent me a pack of 6 stamps as an apology!!!
...Because what I really want to do in this situation is use the service MORE, right?? And 6 stamps makes up for the fact that someone might have enough of my information to walk into a bank and set up something in my name.
When we moved house, to a postcode where only the second half of it was different, all the disappearances stopped instantly. I'm so relieved; it was so stressful not knowing from one day to the next what important things would go astray.
Our current postal service is fab and even comes at 9am :j rather than 3pm like it used to.0 -
whilst there are loads of problems with RM,in the whole the system works
now if only people could write full, clear addresses
learn to pay the correct postage
put return addresses on everything and package correctly then a lot of 'problems' would never happen0 -

im glad you acknowledge that this was a PO error and not a RM one
that seems rather suspect on the sender to be honest, the prepaid label is printed off on the PO till at the time of purchase so would have the actual date it has been posted..what type of proof of postage did they send to you?0 -
