can anyone tell me where i can get a savings account. Just been turned down for one with the co-op as they credit check their savings accounts. I have successfully opened a Cash minder account with them.

it'll be difficult while the BR shows on your credit file for 6yrs......a credit union might be an idea? http://www.abcul.org/page/index.cfm

Other than that I managed to get a sainsburys online saver account but that was after i'd been discharged

gettingbetter - I'm BR and have gone ahead with claiming my bank charges. The banks have all written back saying that they're waiting for the outcome of the test case and my claim has been logged.

It'd be nice if I got to keep them (if they came through after discharge) but who knows? Somehow I doubt it but it's worth a try!

    hi

well done Louise hope they pay out for you

as regards to savings account, NS&I will let you open an Easy Access Savings Acc. you have to open it with £100 and never have less than £100 in it. Was my mum who sugested them. They dont do a credit check but you do need a valid bank card so they can do an identity check

woooooo hooooooooooo its all coming together slowly

    Kas

    Thanks to everyone who replies

I think you will find that as your accounts are no longer yours and any money claimed will have to go to the OR weather you have been discharged or not.

I can confirm what the others have said, I've had a client do this and it is classed as after aquired, although in one case the bank tried to claim it to pay another debt off - the OR was not impressed

And as the IS has the aim of being self funding, I imagine they will claim any bank charges (if the appeal fails) to help their own finances.
