After problems with BT for unilaterally changing contracts i went with NTL who gave me broadband and phone for £35 a month. That's what was on offer at the time, the contract was clear, and to be honest they never failed me.
Virgin comes along, and there is no change apart from the internet vanishing once in a while and the speed reducing. I start looking at their website to find that they are doing all these deals for alot less than my now £36 a month contract which included the TV package.
Anyone ever tried telling them this? They ended up offering me TV on top of my existing contract for another two pounds. Therefore, ten days ago, i told them through their e-mail service to cancel the service. Ofcourse there is no reply and they will probably deny ever getting it, regardless of me having a reference number.
To try and go with another broadband provider, i have to pay BT £125 for connection. Not likely! There goes anti-monopoly and anti-competitive behaviour down the toilet pan again.
No ombudsman to sort it out, MP's are powerless, in essence we are being dictated to by unadulteraded greed and capitalism.
But there is a happy ending.
I have one of those rare things. A very good neighbour. Drill a hole next door, splice the cable, and share the connection fee.
Come and get me richard

DO NOT switch to Virgin, their "unlimited" is actually limited to 5 gig a week download limit, then you are capped from 8meg to 2meg AND then to add insult to injury you are throttled, yes that's right THROTTLED
We are in east london and the only reason we found out about the 5 gig a week limit was because one of thier tech guys got angry and threw it in my face, oh and the customer services is RUBBISH.
Try ringing up as a potential customer and see if you can get anyone to deny or confirm what you're download limit will be, go on
Absolute rubbish, the direct debit has been cancelled and I look forward to meeting them in court.Nothing happens until something moves.0 -
You are right. Their customer services are the scum of the earth. I daresay for me that it is time to go mobile internet. Sick and tired of being limited to two sharks, bt and virgin0

It's called 'fair usage'. Most companies have this a swell.
My parents have been with Virgin since 2003 and have never had a problem. When our box froze and it took them a week to come out, and they said they won't charge us for that week when we had no box.0 -
If your not happy with what VM are charging you and your out of contract read this money saving sticky.

I think you will find the £125 is because there is no telephone connection at the address.0
