    Update :

It's been more than 2 weeks since I applied online and more than 1 week since I signed and returned documentation to NatWest.

No account number yet and my initial cheque has not appeared on bank statement online. Nothing from NatWest to indicate that the account has been opened.

Guess they must be inundated with applications.

rail.link, when I opened an e-saver account a while back it took about a month to setup, but all is well now.

What was that, if you don't mind me asking?

...but in short they hadn't registered a deposit because I withdrew as soon as I saw the money had arrived, rather than leaving it in for the overnight processing run.

I've received a bunch of forms from them, including the standing order form - but it asks for an account number, which it looks like I don't get until the application's complete. Anyone know if it's OK to send them off together with the account number bit blank?

That's what I did; let them sort it out.

Off topic, but I've just realised what a pain the co-op offer's going to be. To set up online access, you need to phone them and tell someone lots of security info, that I'd much rather were known only to me and the encryption process . Telephone banking would be the same, so the only way I can see to manage my money-shuffling is to push it in from my normal current account, go to a cash machine to check when the money's there and then use Egg to take a Debit Card payment in, and transfer from Egg back to my CA - seems the £100 will be harder work than I thought!
In the end, I realised that the bonus would be put into the savings account, not CA, so the above method wouldn't work. Therefore, I decided to bite the bullet and phone them up, but with different answers/personal info to other accounts. As it's only for 3 months I should be able to remember the details. Opening and setting up the account was dead easy and very pleasant.
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...

Natwest has now and set up a standing order for me - as I requested by post - with First Direct (reference 'cashback promotion') so I've got the evidence I need for them to pay out in 12 months time...

    Hi,

I have an Natwest Current Plus account and applied for an ESaver Account. The SO now setup for the 1st payment to go through on 04/08/08 but there is no reference as "Cashback promotion". Has anyone else setup SO fron there Natwest account? with any ref?

    Thanks
    MS

I just put that reference on the form myself - I could have left it blank - but it will be obvious to NatWest

Are you referring to the First Direct reference provided in the direct debits and standing order section of internet banking on the First Direct website? The reason I ask is I wanted to know if the standing order initiated by Natwest would show up in that section allowing you to cancel it anytime or would it be under Natwest's control?
