You will recieve interest based upon the number of days you have had your money in the account.
So when I select I want the balance paid into the other web saver/whatever other account, that balance paid into my other account WILL definitely include the interest earned up to this point? (I expect it to be a couple of hundred pounds so this is quite important) I don't want to close the account and lose the interest.

You will not lose any interest.
When you close ANY bank account the interest is added to the balance on closure.

k I have closed it but nothing has happened as of yet... I worked out I should be receiving about £500 interest after tax and the balance in there atm is only £1 so we will see in the next few days...

    Kavanne,

Isn't your question answered in your account T&C's?

    Thanks FairyElephant for the tip!

I opened one yesterday after reading your post and it's showing as 5.8% now after being confirmed as set up. Now just need to close the 4.2% accounts and transfer remaining balances.

    Cheers!

If you have a 10% reg. saver and it is your 'nominated account' you may need to make sure that these details get changed too......

If anyone knows by chance how to change your nominated account without calling the CS? I just closed the one which is the nominated account for the 10% Reg Saver by mistake.

This account quotes 5.8% AER, that means it is the same for gross rate as well because interest is paid annually?

I hope someone would be able to answer me.The gross should be equal to the AER if the interest is paid yearly but i read that the interest is calculated daily!?

Calculated daily but not paid daily. So it takes account of what your balance is each day, but it's still 5.80% AER.
  • I have already moved to the new Web Saver Reward and closed some of the older versions. However the new Reward account lasts only a year. I have a Regular Saver account and I keep one of these old acconts as the nominated account because it is too much hassle to change it , anyway the reward guarantee only lasts for a year anyway. when the regular saver matures I will remove the accumulated savings from the old style variable rate web saver into a more appropriate account which exists.

In summary I have the following web and regular savers open:-

    Regular Saver - 10%
    Web Saver Extra - 6.05%
Variable web saver reward - 5.80%
Variable web saver (with Card) - 4.17%
Variable web saver (with no card) (Uses as the rs nominated account) I just keep a £1 in this account.
This is more complicated from the days my parents opened a old passbook based Halifax Building Society Paid Up Share account when I was aged two in 1980. (Those were the days).
