Our local UCI is right in the middle of chav city, so gets especially bad. We tend to go to the first showing of the day on the weekend, so most of them aren't out of bed yet!

I read an interesting article on the BBC about the etiquette of arm rests in cinemas. What will they do research on next??

I know what you mean Freddie, it has put me right off the idea of going to the cinema, I just wait for the DVD to come out now so I can watch in peace and quiet at home.

Not the same though as the big screen :-/

I just pop in now and then.... :)

  • The thing I hate about going to the cinema is I always seem to get someone sat behind me who repeatedly kicks the back of my chair and people who talk during the film  >:(

Just went to the cinema today. The prices were exorbitant! £6.20! It was a vue cinema. I'm sure there's a special deal between the terrestrial tv channels and the cinemas because this years Christmas tv was so disappointing.
To add to my experience, I had a little kid kicking my seat. I wish I was more assertive. I couldn't even do the give them an evil stare after the film because she left as soon as the credits popped up!
My friend accidently kicked the seat in front (once!) while she was getting comfortable and the mother turned around immediately and said "Will you stop kicking me seat!" So two sides of the spectrum!

Phew, I feel much better now! ;)

    £6.20? eeep!

none of ours charge more than a fiver, most are £4.90 but i suppose we also pay petrol to get there because we don't go to our local. cineworld charge less before 5pm too.

i wouldn't pay more than a fiver for the cinema because i'm always asleep after the first few minutes, it's too dark in there lol! hubby pokes me if i snore so i don't upset other people in there lol!

I hate it when people kick the back of my chair repeatedly.

Does anyone else hate the price of sweets and drinks.

I now smuggle in sweets etc from home as it saves a fortune but always feel a bit guilty and expect to get chucked out.

My boyfriend used to work at Vue and would never let me buy popcorn there because he knows how much it actually costs the cinema to buy.....60p per bag(and the bags they get are about 3 foot tall). Then they sell a tiny box to you for £3!!! It's extortionate!
What did I do at work before I discovered MSE?!

DFD - WAS: a while ago

NOW - not sure, due to boyfriend going back to uni for masters and now pgce. Worth it in the long run!
