a couple of the stores I frequent seal all their cosmetic items with cellotape. I wish all stores did this. I once saw a lady paint her nails - both hands - under the nose of the SA, and she didn't say a work. It wasn't a tester she was using either:mad: I had to bite my tongue!!

I have taken this up with Boots Customer Services before because the No7 makeup range is not sealed. I buy from that range and with most things often take from the middle or back of the display as I know that most people muck about with the products at the front of the display.

Maybe we should pressure on boots and ask them to security seal there own ranges.

I can't recall what they said about it apart from they would look in to it.

The girl was treated rather over the top but she was old enough to know that it was not a tester and she really should not have opened it. Best would have to have been give her warning or if they felt it warranted it to send a bill to her parents for them to pay. And that would have been the end of it. Mind you the cost of raising a invoice would have probably been more than the cost of the item :rotfl:

Oooh. Popped into my local Boots today, Leeds. Saw a whole horde of ROC products on the clearance aisle. Some of them were like less than £2.00. I used up 8000 points, leaving another 7000 on my card. Think I shall go back tomorrow and clear the rest off. LOL.

Spill the beans - what did you buy? You must have got loads and loads if you spent £80!!! Any chance of a shopping list so we can see what we're missing? Hope you enjoy using it - you'll have gorgeous skin with all those posh products. Well done for finding the bargains!

"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being".
"Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that".
"True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".

I have seen a clarins SA put her full makeup on in Boots!! YUK

I worked in Debenhams full time, for my sins whilst studying, ten years ago and nearly every one of the premium beauty/skincare assistants under say 35, came to work bare faced and applied everything except their foundation(including lippy and EYELINER erk germs!) and finished with half a bottle of the latest perfume. Before a night out they would also totally ignore customers who did not scream at them as they were too busy doing their nails etc

My local boots went through a phase of sealing products, they did it with cellotape, the problem with that is that it is a nigtmare to get off as they were using really cheap stuff and it always left things sticky. I guess there is no need to seal the stuff on the no7 counters as the SA's are VERY eagle eyed! However, you would have thought that all of the major companies who have unmanned stands would automatically put an easy to remove seal on their items as it would save a fortune and deter people opening to test.

Bit divided on the 12yr old girl story...at 12 if children are old enough to go shopping by themselves then they should know better than to test items, but yes the treatment was probably a bit OTT as there was no intent to steal it etc

MM mag vouchers still not scanning, but SA kindly added my 250 points on for me:D

I bought the dry shampoo 1/2 price at 2.74

also bought this hero.jpgreduced to 1.00, and thishero.jpg for 1.00

Original source BS was reduced to 50p, so grabbed the last one! paid with points.

On my way out of the store I saw a group of SA's looking through a basket full of LTD edition reduced No7 items. Went over to see what I could find. I got:

    2x eye jewels 1.00 each

    tropical eyes 1.00

    lip gleam 1.00

    paid with points:D

    :hello: Hi Sally06,

I am so... jealous. I was in our local today after trying hard to resist the temptation to go in because I told myself I was only go into town to buy party and birthday stuff for my eldest DD's 18th birthday party next Friday and her birthday next Sunday but as usual I couldn't help but get side tracked into Boots to have a look and see if they had any of things you had found reduced yesterday...

I found 2 different sets of shelves with clearance stuff on downstairs and here is my shoppping list which I think you will agree were a great buy!!:-

2 x Garnier Summerbody Moisturising Spray Mist @ 75p each
2 x Expert Sensitive Moisture Boost Body Lotion @ 50p each
1 x Expert Sensitive Moisture Boost Hand Cream @ 50p
    1 x Ted Baker Bodywear Bath Soak @ 50p
    1 x Ted Baker Bodywear Body Scrub @ 50p
1 x Ted Baker Bodywear Body Shimmer @ 0.00 (as the range is on 3 for 2)
1 x Andrew Collinge Weightless Volume thickening Hairspray @ £1.00
1 x L'Oreal Perfectslim Day & Night Anti-Cellulite Programme clearance sticker marked at £2.00 but went through at £1.33:j

Total for this shop was £6.33

I thought this was great and the SA was lovely when she was putting it through and she also told me about the reduced No7 stuff which I had totally forgotten about in my exitement of my bargains and she showed me the No7 jewels which she had kept behind the till for her to buy later. After paying I hot footed it back to No7 but only found these

    hero.jpg

which were £1 too so I brought two for my DD's birthday!!
The No7 jewels which she had really were lovely and a fantastic bargain at £1 so you were really lucky to get these.

When my clearance bargains were going through from my first shop both the SA's at nearby tills and the customer next to me were remarking at what good bargains I had and asked me where I got them from and as I was leaving I saw one getting off the till with a basket so two guesses as to know where she was going!!!:rotfl:

Did you get your bargains from our local by any chance:question:

Just to add to my message if it was our local were they okay at adding the 250 model me voucher which I finally managed to get in the Boots mag because I was tempted to try it with a half price model me but thought I would end up with a SA who wouldn't allow it. I'm going back to town on Monday after work to get the rest of my DD's party stuff (which I couldn't carry because of my Boots trip!!) so I might give it a go if there is any left!!

Re: the Boots/Revlon/12 year old story.
What I really don't understand is why the mum went to the press about the story, seems like double the humiliation for her daughter to me  I wonder how long until she lives this down among her schoolmates and friends. :o

I'd like to see all the cosmetics and beauty with shrink wrap, Revlon (ironically) already do this on a lot of their products, if not all. I've seen people testing non-testers in Boots very often, most of them adults and old enough to know better too.
