this is so stupid natwest are the worst bank i have ever been with in my life.
im so fcuked off right now.
about 1 month and a half ago. i opened an account a step account with a solo card thought everything would be fine with that.
i wait for my card to come thru my door it eventually comes after 2 weeks of waiting. and then i sign this form so it activates my card sent it off to edinbrugh (IF thats how u spell it) waited for it to be activated. then it finnaly complete, expect the account number i put on that letter was the last 8 digits on my card not that 8 digits shown on my cheque book i didnt know this.
i contacted them to see if it was okay they said its fine they would sort it out. nothing happend.
and then i went to my local branch and they said the account was active. so i signed upto paypal online.
and someone paid me £10 for something i sold. so i sent the £10 to my bank. its been there for 14 days in my bank but it wont let me take it out or use it in a shop as when i put my card in a atm machine it says its not there the money it says £10.04 at the top. then £0 at the bottom.
it has done for 14 days now. so then i tried to spend the £10 on my card in the local shop. put the card in the chip and pin machine thing to pay for my stuff.
it said my card was rejected 3 times.
My account must not be active so i think im going to sue natwest. as theyve told me my account is active i surely have a case.

You sure it's not letting you take any money out because if it did, you'd have a balance of less than £1 which is the minimum for most banks?0

Account Balance: £10.40
Available Balance: £0.00
What the hell ive been waiting 14 days for paypal money to clear it only takes 5 working days.
The bank is playing up i dont know what to do. im trying to spend the £10.40 on something at the shop's. but it wont let me says card failure all the time.
What is up with this?0 -
Its 15 days today ive been waiting.
What do i do? i know it isnt a problem with paypal its the bank i dont think its active at all but on the phone there telling me that it is active.0 -

If they let you take £10 out of that account balance you'd be below the minimum amount allowed for an account. Hence the reason it won't allow you to have the £10 withdrawn. If you are saying you have another £10 on top of that balance coming in from paypal, you should phone up your bank and ask them where that £10 has gone. As it might be paypal that hasn't actually sent it through correctly.0 -

I don't think that is right, I regularly draw out my last tenner and leave about 2p in my account.
OP, have you tried asking NatWest why you are unable to withdraw funds and why your balance shows £10.04 yet it says available fund 0.00?

i asked them that, they told me my account was active and i should be able to use my card to withdraw the £10 out. but it wont let me i told them this they said go to my local branch
EFF THAT. i shudnt have to pay £6.90 to get a train and a return to see what the problem is cos my local branch will tell me the same. its all bollox i hate natwest.0 -
I read that as the £10.40 hasn't cleared yet, and so is unavailable
Maybe put in another £10 cash, and then see if you can remove it from the ATM0 -
I think the account's active, but your available balance is zero, hence being unable to use the card.
Call them and ask if the Paypal payment has cleared; if it hasn't, ask them why and when it will clear.0 -

Call them, it’s probably an e-cheque which hasn’t cleared yet. And, please, don’t use your charming language!....stupid natwest…..fcuked off right now…EFF THAT.....its all bollox i hate natwest.0 -
I have to say I have no idea why the balance is unavailable apart from either a debit card transaction, ie the shop transaction being authorised but yet the shop's terminal not working. I suspect, a "ghost" transaction or a cheque not cleared. Have you telephoned the bank? Local branches have direct lines to the branch albeit on 0845 numbers.
The card is active, but the balance is clearly the issue.
If you have phoned central telephony have you asked them to check about transactions awaiting to go in/out of the account?0
