I went looking in the development called Skyline I think it is (way out of my budget but was with a friend for who it isn't!!) and they had a swimming pool on the 18th floor and you look all across Manchester. Was truely stunning, possibly even epic.
Live there!! Live there!! Crap area mind you, but amazing views."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -

The Grand is a lovely apartment building. It's a converted Victorian Hotel, with a stunning entrance hall where they have left the original ballroom ceiling structure in place. It's on Aytoun Street, just off Picadilly Gardens and is about as central as you can get.
Of course, I am biaised, as I am about to put my lovely one bed apartment on the market, as I am buying with my boyfriend. Please pm if you might be interested! (Discount available of course, as I would save the agents fees, plus you have to love MSErs).
(Incidentally, I too would avoid buying anything outside of the ring road ie. 'Green quarter', Ancoats etc. Especially if it is a new build).Debt at highest Nov '06 £17,822.98
Debt at LBM Nov '07 £14,231.63
DEBT FREE as of 01/01/09 now I have savings!!0 -
Definitely avoid anything outside the ring road in Manchester, apartmentwise I mean. These places are the slums of the future and I wouldn't mind betting you'd regret your purchase within weeks. I've noticed that a lot of the building works involving new apartments has slowed down or even come to a complete stop in several areas....gawd knows when it'll all start up again if ever. You'd be better off in the long run buying a nice two bed terrace in a nice or up and coming area. There are still a lot of bargains out there for someone with the right finances.0

Thanks. It is not for me but my daughter and she definately wants a city centre flat. Renting is what she will do as she is not in a position to buy yet, but she could rent off me if I could pick up a bargain ! What I am interested in, from those that already live in Manchester, is which are the more desirable blocks to be in.0 -

But I dunno, I just seem to like Didsbury more, especially this one room I have my heart set on at the moment."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"

I live in the city centre and have seen most of the better blocks from when buying a few months ago.
As I already mentioned- Chorlton Mill, Cambridge Mill, and as someone else mentioned The Grand (although no parking except on rental basis from the NCP next door so not so good for car owners). All of those are gorgeous period conversions but if she wants something more modern then Venice Court, Velvet Court and anywhere in Granby Village complex are nice.0
