Yes Hear, Hear despite many believing it's Here,Here!!:D

I am now trying to be very diplomatic if I fail I apologise before hand.

A lot of individuals come to this place because they are in need of assistance not just from "names" but also in the way of support from others they feel have experinced their pain and more. That through sharing each others experience that pain becomes less of a burden....

Outside of the spammers, I from my experience, are posting in GOOD FAITH, and do not need shooting for being a messenger.
Those that shoot are often bittered by their experience...it's all so easy (I know)...so be nice to each other, be playful....afterall there could be so much more at stake that we all may truly know or realise.;)

here here. i have to say that i have recently come across some nastiness on the boards and its put me off the site for a while. basically i unwittingly broke the rules. heaven forbid!! i was pounced on as the vilest of creatures, stupid, disrespectful and ignorant was how i was meant to feel. this was all because i didnt immediatly delete the post (apologies i work and cant be on here 24/7) but i did as soon as i realised id broke the rules.

up till now i thought we were all MSE mates - sticking together to fight the 'real' villans the big money nicking corporations. i stayed away for a few days, but came back because i agree with the principal of this site. but please be aware that this site can get very 'cliquey' and its indimidating for us that arent in the 'clique'.

sorry if ive offended anyone, just thought id get my 2 pence out and say i respect you all, so please dont jump down my throat - im sure some of the newbies feel this more keenly than i do.

I don't see why this is such a big deal  But a duplicate post of something in my eyes could be good for those new members joining the forum (like me) who can save time searching through pages and still take advantage of some really great offers which are open, to genuinely try and save money, which is the idea I thought. I don't see why those who have already seen a 'duplicate post' cant just ignore it rather than bullying the newbies ;)

I think people pointing out duplicate posts are trying to help posters and new members who are posting without taking the time to read the rules of the forum, i.e. search for an offer before posting as it helps keep the infomation togther, meaning the site is more manageable for the admins and beter for the users as search only throw up a couple of threads rather than a half dozen. It also rewards the original poster.

I agree with you that posting an offer can help highlight it on the main page, however when you get half a page full of reposted offers, in new threads with diffrent titles, along with the normal half a page of petrol card spam posts, then it makes the site slower to search through to find a new post or freebie rather than quicker.

I think things and tempers are a bit fraught on here with the huge amount of spam thats being posted the last few weeks and so I think a few of the multiple threads started might have got a less friendly reaction than normal.
• Hi again

To answer a couple of points (not all because I'm working :) )...

I'm not talking about anyone specific or on any particular days, we've been seeing this more and more over the last few months, if not longer and the last thing we want is that people new to the forum come here to be helpful and get slated for it.

We don't have mods, we have volunteer, unpaid board guides and the forum team. This isn't a free speech site and it never has been. If you want free speech you need to go to another site. This one's about saving money and if a post or thread could threaten the site's existance it's taken down. I'm sure you'd rather still have this site if it means one thread going?

We don't have the time or resources to explain why posts are removed every time one is, we'd rather spend it working to help save millions of people money, than on explaining why one individual thread on one board was removed.

We don't remove threads criticising the site or Martin. In fact we actively encourage you to let us know what you think on the official discussions linked to from every article or on the Site Feedback board or forum policy board. That's the ideal place to post if you have an issue with something in one of the main site articles or MSE Team posts.

HOWEVER, what we don't accept is any personal criticism of any site users including our volunteer board guides. These will be removed. If you have an issue with something that's been deleted the action you should take is to email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com explaining politely what's happened and why you disagree with it. The forum team members do look at these reports and do re-instate posts or threads if they think it's merited.

wasting_noalibi - I have no idea who you were previously but posting privileges are removed due to a person's conduct on the forum not because they've disagreed with us.

Anyone that's following the rules and being polite to others has nothing to worry about. I'm not saying, don't point out duplicates, just if there are, people need to think about the way they say it.

Last but not least... where's the tattooed bum then?

Hmmmm......I think I can hazzard a guess that 'wasting_noalibi''s old username was 'wasting_alackaday', and that his/her username was deleted (I suspect) due to several abusive posts in which he/she resorted to personal insults, general nastiness and name-calling.

As Andrea says, posts are not deleted simply because you give an opinion, but if you are impolite in the way you do it.

Let's hope wasting_noalibi can stick to the rules this time.

I posted regarding searching threads on the sites questions & answers section, as I've also had problems when I think I've found a new freebie.
I used to always type in the correct name, if it came up a nothing then I posted it. I noticed that some people use different words to describe their freebies, so maybe that's how some posts are duplicated.
I'm posting the link to the thread, so that newbies can have a read of the replies.
I've found that by using Mountainchrisrivers advice seems to be working for me, let's hope it can help other people too...:)
