Hiya, My son's PC takes about 20 minutes to load now, and it keeps shutting down. Is this likely to be a virus do you think? and whats the best way to try and sort it out?
Thanks in advance.
Michelle.

What antivirus do you have installed? have you scanned for viruses?
If you don't have a anti virus download, install and do a full scan http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
Then install some antispyware and do full scans after updating.
Ad-Aware
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/
Spybot
http://www.filehippo.com/download_spybot_search_destroy/
SuperAntiSpyware
http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/
You may need to do this in safe mode.
Then run ccleaner

and post a hijack this log

Hiya, he has avast (for which he complains is what is slowing his PC down! (kids!) I've been trying to get on to the Internet to go on to some of the sites listed in the sticky? at the top of this board but it just seems to freeze, been trying for the last 45 mins. He said when he's on the net, it restarts itself or freezes. Could it be slow if he has a few large file games on it?
Thanks for your help,

Reboot into Safe Mode by continuously tapping the F8 key as soon as the computer begins to boot. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.0 -
