Great Isn’t it Obvious MoneySaving Hunt: Tell us the secrets you didn't know you had

turn down boilder for hot water all the way in summer, only up for baths.
the hot water can be hot enough to wash-up with but not scold you.
saves loads of money on heating hot water, when your out most of the day! What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
I've just remembered something ingrained that others perhaps don't do... my children both have a "part-worn" drawer... I refuse to add to my washing by cleaning stuff that's barely worn, so unless it's grubby looking or undies, clothing goes into their "part worn" drawer. Next day, that's the place they have to look first before choosing what to wear! I have a chair where I throw (I mean carefully hang!) my part worn stuff.:D0

I have two part-time jobs and cycle to both of them, on two days doing a 15-mile round trip. This saves me just under £20 per week in bus fares and actually takes less time. It also saves me spending money on the gym and keeps me fit. I eat my packed lunch in the park between jobs and don't actually take any money at all with me. The only downside is this "summer" weather!0

Press them together using the dish cloth (melted soap is "burning" hot) then wash hands to test the two bits have welded together.
There is a skill to making the soap soft but not "burst" as it starts cooking from the inside.
This treatment makes some soaps "harder" so heaven knows what microwaves do to the fat in our food. Hardened soap lasts longer. My old mum used to keep her soap in the airing cupboard - it was like rock.:rotfl:
The soap I buy is 14p for 3 bars.
How much does a microwave cost to run?

But by getting your contract through say Quidco AND taking up e.g. e2save etc type cashback deals you can get big contracts for free.
For example last year I had a 12mth contract with cashback equalling the 12mths charges (so free). I also went through quidco and got £37. Then coz I already had a perfectly good handset I sold the one they gave me on ebay for £25.
This year my contract will cost £2 a month. But got £30 odd pounds from Quidco AND i'm putting another phone on ebay for about £20.
I have been getting 400 mins and 500 txts a month for the last 3 years and it's making me money.
The only issue is that you have to jump through hoops to get the phone people to pay. But write the key dates on your calander and a bit of hastling them (on work phone - oops) and I have always got the money.
Hi there this looks interesting, but when I search, the costs are at least £10 per month - am I missing something? I cannot find any deals where the cashback is the same as the monthly rental and therefore free.
Any hints or tips would be useful!!!!!!!!!!1
Loving this thread - my own tip would be turning bar soap into liquid soap - grate a small amount of a bar and put into any empty handwash container - you wont need much. Add hot water - I used hot water from the tap and then leave to 'melt' its really watery at first, but after you leave it about a day, it turns into liquid soap!! I have absolutely tons of hotel soaps etc in my cupboard, and I reckon I will be kept in liquid soap til my old age!Live on £4000 a year again for 20110 -

My top tip would be (and this is really sad!) to pay money to your credit card everyday. I send between £1-£1.50 to mine. Doesn't sound very much but when the statement comes in you can see that it's made a bit of a difference and I always send £15.00 more than my min payment but round it up to the nearest pound so you may end up sending a wee bit extra e.g if you're min payment is £14.45, send £30.00. If you send by internet banking then your not wasting money on a stamp everyday!
My top tip would be pay off whatever you owe. And if you won't be able to do that, don't spend on it in the 1st place!0 -

To save money I shop at asda, it's so much cheaper than tesco and the delivery charges are cheaper too!

700mins: 250txts a month.
12mths, 11mths free so for year it costs £40.
Quidco give you £60.
So total cost MINUS £20.
And if you got a handset already then sell the new or the old phone.Girls are gonna love the way I toss my hair. Boys are gonna hate the way I seem.
