Had one of these for a three or four months and I am very pleased with it, exceptional value and certainly fits the bill, also comes with a DVI cable which can set you back 20 quid from some sources, the unit is badged GERICOM and seems to be a usual name to be found in ALDI, also purchased a 250 GB GERICOM hard drive for 79.99 also exceptional value. Looking forward to seeing what else they decide to stock from GERICOM :-)A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

Am I the unlucky one to have dead pixels in mine and missing the dvi cable. First LCD unit I've ever bought to have such failures from purchase - going back.
Worth swapping or money back?________________________________________

I understood that allowable tolerances for a TFT screen response rating was +/-2ms - so there may indeed be no actual difference between a 16ms and 20ms rated screen! I would have thought, however, that given a 8ms rated screen and a 16ms screen the 8ms screen will actually be more responsive! Is that naive
? As for the brightness rating - I have to say I can tell the difference between 250cd/m2 and 300cd/m2 (much in the same way I can see the difference between a 75W and 100W lightbulb!). As for contrast ratios, I have to admit I'd have a hard time differentiating 500 colour tones let alone 800!!!
The problem lies in that there's no official way of testing a tft, it's at the manufacturers discretion. For example (as someone mentioned before), a manufacturer could test response times of colour to colour, white to black, light grey to dark grey, so specs are bound to differ. You can also improve response time simply by increasing the brightness and contrast on your tft.
Personally, I wouldn't go for less than 20ms, although I've played Half Life 2 on a 25ms screen and it didn't suffer from ghosting at all. In fact a decent 25ms screen (such as one of the Dell's) would be more than fine.
I'd only buy a monitor I've seen myself (next to others for comparison) and/or has been well reviewed from trusted sources. Have a look at https://www.tftcentral.co.uk. It's a very good site for reviews and articles. It's one of the components you interact with the most (if not "the" most) so make sure you get something that's of good quality."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

Been to swap it - no problems BUT this one also has just the one dead pixel (centre screen). I am now concerned about the overall build of these! Wouldn't you be? Hmmm________________________________________

No as its way LCD screens are made its very likely you will get a dead pixel, my monitor has one but luckily its right in the corner atd not noticable, however yours in in the middle i would take it back and try another.
At least you get the chance to take it back as most places would say its acceptable to get a dead pixel and some manafactuers say you need about 6 to class as faulty.0
