Confused's Insurance feedback

  • I tried Confused after the other comparison sites when Direct Line quoted me more than £100 more for my car insurance renewal than last year (no claims, all details the same etc).
Confused found me the best price (with a company I respect)-AND I get 2000 nectar points for buying through them!!-oh and £150 cheaper than DL-so cheaper even than last year :)
  • Wasted my time today trying to get home insurance quotes from confused.com.

I specified some personal possessions cover and bicycles on their forms, but the insurance quotes they offered excluded both.

What's the use in that? :(

I am within 400 metres of a canal and am surrounded on two sides of my property by tall firs. Have lived in this area for 50 years - no subsisdence nor flooding but Confused don't ask that question. I go through all the questions and at the end - NOTHING - no quotes whatsoever!

Try a local broker (not Swinton) who will know the problems associated with your neighbourhood.
  • Just had a renewal from existing insurers (Direct Line) and completed a quote with Confused.com. Have just renewed with Admiral Insurance Platinum Cover and saved over £250.00 for the forthcoming year. Thanks again and well worth the phone call.:T:T:T:j:j:j:T:T:T
  • Requested a quote this morning, made sure as always to tick the box to opt out of being contacted or marketed to and like so many others within 30 minutes I have a call from 0808 223 7401. The number looked dodgy so I didn't answer it and checked online to find others complaining about the same problem despite having opted out!

Without going through the process again I do seem to remember that one of the sites (I've done so many I can't recall which) stated that your opt out preference would be actioned within something like 21 days which I guess gives them the freedom to contact you immediately!?

If you don't want any calls don't give out your real number!
  • Took heed of your tip to shop around and not auto-renew our home insurance, saved over £200 or nearly 50%, with reputable provider and better cover!

  • Renewal time for me too, I got a price from my current provider that was £100 higher than last year for some reason(they wanted £610 this year) so I did all the comparison sites. Some gave me similar prices to my current provider, some gave me 1/3 of the price. On further inspection the cheeper quores had changed my requirements so I did not bother. Like others I received a call from confused dot com immediately after completing the quote and passed me on to the insurer who acted like he had none of my info, was rude and pushy. I hang up and called my current provider, told them I was not renewing as they were too expensive. It took them less than a minute to offer me a renewal £200 cheaper for the same cover. Go figure. Guys, ALWAYS call your current insurer and threaten to leave!!!

I answered every question and was told some 'Yes' entries were not answered correctly. I filled in my driving license number and was told it was an incorrect entry. The same entry the third time around was accepted. I tried to opt out of being contacted by 'tick here' but there was no tick box.
I am now awaiting hundreds of phone calls and e-mails wanting to compensate me for the accident I had (which I was compensated for already) and dreading it already. I view of the quotes I received I might even get phone calls offering me credit and dept relief! Although I am not taking up and of these quotes.

    The result:
I wished I hadn't filled in the request for a quote in the first place.
