Website will not accept any telephone number I enter, I think the same happened last year, so won't bother again.

My Home Insurance is due at the end of the month and last year I used Confused.com for some quotes. A week ago I received an email from them .... More Th>n looked an excellent price and as nothing had changed I followed the link "More>".

Went through the confirmation details and back came the price £218 not the £154 shown in the email.

An email to Confused rapidly followed asking for an explanation, the email back said "You have been removed from our email list as requested". Another email has not been answered!

Clearly the email is a "come on" to get you to their site, that I will never visit again nor recommend!

Yes, it's almost renewal time. So don't rest on your laurels...
Why not see if you can save a bit of money on your home insurance this year?

Based on last year's details, we've listed your top five prices below. If anything's changed since then, it's dead quick and easy to update your details and get new quotes.
Who knows - you may save even more!

  • specified that i wanted accidental damage cover . and the quote came back with "ask provider " in the section covering this
what a total waste of time !!
  • Thought I would try a comparison this year and found that I could not enter two wheelchairs as specified items as Confused does not have a category for them. The combined replacement cost of these items is close on £5500 so I would like to include them!! Has anyone else had the same issue?
  • Used confused.com and saw that my current insurance company was mentioned on list. gave them a call and they knocked £40 off bringing it down to the quote on the website! Brilliant!!!!:T
  • I've recently used confused.com and found it made my annual trawl-with-gritted-teeth-and-hair-pulling into a painless 30 minutes. It did make some assumptions but it was easy to change those. It took a few minutes and I compared 4 of it's suggestions. On picking one, I found I could easily change options and details about myself, house & the cover I needed before updating the quote. I changed excess from £250 to £100, got emergency cover included instead of extra. Even on a pay monthly option I saved £75 on last year. I haven't spotted any searches connected to this on Experian.
  • Spent 25 min entering details and their search replied "We’re really sorry, but we’ve been unable to return any quotes for you with the information you have provided. If you’d like to check the information you have entered is correct and try again, you can do so by clicking here."

We have standard house and no unusual requests.

My advice - use a different website.

I know this thread is over 4 years old now, but would say I have used confused every year since well before that.

Originally I used them for car insurance only, but now refer to them for both motor & home insurance purposes, together with the other suggestions you include in your articles.

Always important to double check directly with the insurer's site (which you end up on) that your details are entirely correct and you are getting the cover you expected.

Don't forget you can get 1000 nectar points for going through confused.com (worth a fiver, I think) but check out the cashback sites for a possible better backhander once you decide on a particular provider.
  • Number 3 on the list and still striving for cheaper car insurance...

I've always used Confused in the past but I now realise how time consuming the form filling is. Lots of next page, next page etc. The info required is understandable as you want an accurate quote but unfortunately this was not the case in reality.

I did get a phone call from them shortly after but they just transferred me to the cheapest insurer. Not sure why but presumably they earn more commission this way I guess.

Conclusion, no real saving to write home about and time consuming forms so not worth the hassle for me. Your details will be saved so the next time you log in for a quote, (the following year), all you need to do is click on edit which will be a lot quicker to do rather than start from scratch.
  • Been trying since THURSDAY (August 7th) to get onto Confused's website. Times out every time. What's the problem? Don't they want any business?
The other websites work fine, so it's not a problem with my browser or firewall. It just seems that Confused's technology isn't up to much.

So I'm off to Tesco's website.

sick of their website, doesnt remember passwords so have to re set and then doesnt remember password-so start all over- then after 10mins of entering everrything- defaults to...password??? only tried moneysaving .com so far and am exhausted!!!
