Red Light Worries

Hi Everyone
This is my first post, i would please like some advice.
I accidentaly ran a red light at a pedestrian crossing (not a junction) the other day and i'm terrified i'm going to be fined.
The lights themselves had the little black boxes on top (cameras or sensors?), no other gatso style cameras, but there is a cctv camera which usually points the opposite way (not sure which way it was pointing on the night in question) pretty close to said traffic lights.
Any help would be appreciated as it was a genuine accident and like i said i'm bricking it.
Thanks

Don't worry too much. The black boxes are sensors not cameras. A gatso type camera is pretty big and very obvious usually grey and square shaped.
Your only real worry will be from the CCTV, if someone was watching you at the time (unlikely) then they could send you an NIP for it. it has to arrive within 15 days of the date to the registered keepers address.
If Joe public saw you and reported you they will knock on your door and give you a verbal warning.0 -

I'd be more terrified of the flaming you'll get when the self-styled MSE Police get on here after work tonight.:D
As Wig has said the sensors detect pedestrians on the crossing or cars queuing to pass the red light. The man without a signature.0 -
Nothing to worry about - I wouldn't have thought anyway. Traffic light cameras are quite large and painted yellow like speed cameras - they are very obvious.
Most likely the boxes you saw on top of the lights are for sensing traffic to determine the best time to turn to red.
Do try and pay more attention though, there really isn't any excuse for going through a red light.0 -
Consider yourself flamed (you seem to be doing a good job of it yourself I don't think any one else can contribute a worthwhile one
)I doubt you will get in trouble and hope you will not make the same honest mistake again. We all make mistakes driving sometimes.

i know there is no excuse, not even defo sure it was red but the car behind me stopped.
forgive my lack of forum knowledge, but what is the MSE police0 -
Folk who shout at lawbreakers (from inside their glasshouses).
Pop down to the police station and hand yourself in, then report back here you've made a full confession.
Should keep them off your case!0 -

i definatley will be more vigilant in future, a valuable lesson has been learned here

You will definitely be fine. Nobody would have been watching the CCTV in so much detail. There was no accident so consider yourself lucky.
Traffic light cameras are grey boxes (not yellow).0
