Epson Cartridges Thread

I buy compatible cartridges (for my Epson Stylus CX3200 - a 3-in-1 printer/copier/scanner) from https://www.inkcabin.co.uk: black cost £10 for 3 (or a fiver each) and colour cost £14 for 3 (or £7 each). POSTAGE IS FREE and all products are fully guaranteed.
I've used this company for years (now known as https://www.plymouthinkjets.com) and have always had good service from them. For the first time ever, this last colour cartridge has decided to falter on the yellow and I haven't got round to sending it back, but my sister (who's bought plenty of cartridges from them too) has sent back a cartridge in the past and they've replaced it without any fuss.
They also recently ran an offer of 6 CARTRIDGES FOR £15 (3 col/3 black) because they were unpackaged (!!) so it's worth keeping your eyes open...Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Epson have won big damages against retailers and importers of compatable cartridges. Will this see the end of cheap cartridges? I have stocked up from 7 day shop. All were just 99p each.0

Could you provide a reference for that news, please?
Edit: Found one for myself: http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?NewsID=11845
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Worrying!
However, this particular article dates back to 15 June this year, so what's been happening since then?Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

Little typo there ...

I found a link on here in the spring
http://www.northdevoncomputers.com/[/url]
Only £1 + p&p for C62 from there, for example.
I bought about 50 for various machines in the spring for family and friends and have been very pleased with the quality. I even collected them as I was holidaying in the area a couple of weeks after spotting it, saving on the p&p.0 -

Not strictly accurate. Here are the facts.
Epson took a manufacturer of compatibles to the High Court for infringing their patents.
The company, Cybahouse, agreed out of court to stop making compatible Epson cartridges. Cybahouse made for a number of retailers. IM Jet was one of their brands.
Epson also reached a similar arrangement with other compatible manufacturers. Epson say they will sue anyone who copies parts of their product to make compatibles work in their printers.
No court has passed judgement in Epson's favour to date.
If Epson carry on with similar action with other compatible manufacturers it will make Epson compatibles hard to get.

Interesting page here on the Epson legal proceedings. It's from the Choice Stationery site, but is a page taken from "Computer Active" magazine.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930

Just found this thread. It's sad news indeed but I suppose inevitable. I have 3 Epson printers and have always reckoned that buying this make has been the passport to cheap day to day use. Indeed buying Epson seems almost mandatory when I look through my suppliers' catalogue of compatible prices.
I use, and have always been very happy with, Ansacart (don't know whether they have had support in this thread as it's now a lot to wade through and I haven't the time - sorry!).
My latest printer purchase is the C66 and my latest compatibles purchase 3 black and one each of the 3 colours for £20. There may be cheaper deals out there (and I'm sure someone is going to tell me!) but I'm happy. Free phone to order, post free and next day delivery.
Even the chipped cartridges can be copied cheaply so it was perhaps going to come one day that Epson would fight back. After all the vast bulk of their return and profit comes from the cartridges, not the machines themselves.
Just hope it doesn't happen.0
