I do not know what the extra £100 was for in the end?

    Do not let this rest.

You should see how all charges were made up from the itemised bill you would get at checkout.

If the £100 is an unexplained charge, then dispute it.

As it has been charged without you actually being present your credit card company will be prepared to assist if this was an unauthorised charge.

    Hi Quetin,

I have a full itemised invoice and "paid" stamped on it from the check out desk. Problem is that they took the extra from the pre-authorised credit card which I had too input my pin number in for, so I suppose the credit card company will say that I authorised??

    Regards,

    Haze....

Well they said basically for £99 pound they will add breakfasts and dinners for two for three nights.

When I questioned they extra £100 charge they said it was for the special rate, so, yes I guess so but I did not know that fact when I booked.

They have basically ripped me off in my eyes by £100. I am going to call the CC company tomorrow and see what they can do!

No, the actual charge of the £100 was taken without you being present.

If you have a fully itemised bill, and the sum you originally paid covers it, then ask them why they have charged a further £100. They should provide you with another itemised bill for this.

If you are not happy, then contact your credit card company and register a dispute.

the actual situation sounds very different to the first post.... which did sound a lot like sneaking out of paying what was due. if however, a quote was made, then paid at that rate but afterwards the hotel changed their minds, that's quite different. did you get the quote on the phone or via email (i.e. can you produce it for them)?

edit - and insulting dmg is never a good idea. she helps lots of us out loads and doesn't deserve it at all!

    You are spineless.

Doesn't matter how helpful dmg24 is, it doesn't make an unnecessary insult like this to a brand new member acceptable, does it?

What had the poster done to deserve this?

i think it's all down to the way the situation was explained - clearly it's not what everyone thought, but even on re-reading the OP's first post, it still reads like avoiding paying what was due. to then defend that position without explaining properly will always get people's backs up. in hindsight, the comments are unjustified, but in the context they were made, they were a response to someone who seemed convinced they didn't have to pay what they should have and weren't prepared to give an inch.

if the post offends you that much, report it to abuse. that's always the way to deal with these things.

in hindsight, the comments are unjustified

If such a comment was passed face to face in the street/pub it would lead to a breach of the peace!

And it was preceded in an earlier post by the same dmg24 by the equally unacceptable:
Do people even need to ask such obvious questions

These unpleasant comments were made by someone with over 10600 posts to a brand new member making their first post here!

And to cap it all, she came back a third time to say she considered the poster "dishonest"!

You defend such behaviour, but surely it's totally out of order, and not what this Board is about?
