to cap or not to cap that is the question.....
Am just watching itv with martin lewis re the energy rises now i am with scottish power and at the moment pay by monthly direct debit £74 for both gas and electric which i think is really reasonable (they have tried many times to increase this to just under £100 but i have always manged to keep it down) so what do i do? Do i try and find a different supplier with a capped rate (which i presume will be a lot higher than i pay now) or stay as i am. I am really hoping someone will just say cap or not to cap as i cant decide:rolleyes:
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

If you havnt changed supplier recently then you would probably end up paying only slightly more by moving and capping.0

Thank you Danny i have just visited eon (through quidco so £50 back) and they are quoting less but is the price they quote the price it is definately capped at til date quoted. Sorry i am being really dim about it all, i just cant get my head around it!!!I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

I was hoping none of you would fall for what this program is REALLY about and what exactly is going on here....:cool:0

You will get a cap rate and date that you must apply for and sign up for by this date or else the cap might change.0

I think that it is scaremongering.
Prices may rise, prices may fall.
It is suggested that NOT capping is gambling on prices NOT rising. I think capping is gambling on prices rising. Same thing, different angle.
Whatever.
The energy companies costs will be fixed by the price of wholesale energy. These costs will be recovered from customers. We are the customers.
If everybody caps their prices and wholesale costs rise, the companies will 'lose' money. Guess what happens when the cap ends. Yes, that's right, prices rise to cover their earlier losses.
Of course, cap your prices and see wholesale costs fall and the shareholders get a lovely bonus.
I'll stick with whatever tariff I'm on. I know it's eon.

So, you make £50. Quidco make something. Guess who pays.
This whole switching thing is nonsense.

sorry you've lost me
Well !! A classic Government Tactic is..... to make you believe something will rise by a higher amount (ie 40%) so when it `only` rises by 20% then you are a happy little subject.
What we should be saying is "No We`ve had enough" 20% is far too much also. We are ripped off left right and centre. I`m sure the guys at the top aren`t suffering from fuel prices.
I think Martin has sold out to the Devil... The Tonight program is so deep in the governments pocket its banging on it`s kneecaps. Spread the word!0 -
