What do I do?

I've put the wheels in motion for br. I've found somewhere to live and hope to move by end July. Finances are tight but I should have the cost of br covered. Well, that was until this evening when my car had an almighty shudder as I applied the brakes and my ABS light came on. Luckily brakes still seem to work but am a bit scared to drive it. Another lucky break (pardon the pun) is that I was literally driving down my street as it happened. Phew!

So, my question is: do I withdraw money from cc to cover cost of car repair (depending on the diagnosis) and tell OR that I put it towards court fees? It seems wrong but I know the CCCS told me to pay for the court costs on cc if I had to. I don't want to do anything that is deemed as dodgy but I need the car and I need to be br - sooner rather than later. Obviously, this question is based upon an expensive repair being necessary. Thanks guys.

If you have money on your CC I would use that for BR and use the cash you have to get your car fixed.

  • The quandry I have is that I'll have to withdraw the cash now as I've missed my first payment this month and I'm not sure how long I've got until I'm 'cut off'. Will it look dodgy that I withdrew the fees so long in advance - I'm planning br for 1st or 2nd week in August?

No of course not. I drew cash from one card to try the min payment on another in oct, when i realised i could not get any cash from anywere else to meet that payment i kept it for bc fees end of nov. I explained to the OR what i had done and he just agreed with me.D

    Hi Skinty

You are right here...if you have missed a payment these card companies `stop` the cards very, very quickly in the current economic climate! - In my case within the month!

Whether you draw monies for BR or repair then keep receipts to show costs of unavoidable expense. Thats all you can do really.
    Hope its not too expensive!!

Just out of interest ifyou have the money in cash, why are you waiting untill August?

I would draw the money off the CC now anyway for BR anyway and as Angel says make sure you keep reciepts etc.

  • Okay, thanks guys. Gonna do it.

TF-I'm waiting til August as I've yet to move into rented accomm and was advised to do that first and then file for BR. It also means I'll have paid bond/first month's rent, moving costs, etc and set up payments for monthly outgoings (hopefully). I need next months wages to do all this and I'm assuming it will all get tied up very quickly if I'm still at this address waiting to move? Thats the plan anyways.....

Ah! gotcha!! Definatly draw out the £495 off the CC then. No more, no less. Think the OR could see why you have drawn it early if you think the card will be stopped.

Surely its a form of stealing, yes go BR but to use the creditors own money to do it is shameful.
