Hi all
With regards to growing courgettes in pots, what size pots are suitable ? Are the flower buckets too small ?0 -
I would say that the flower buckets are too small, you would get something out of them, so if you have nothing else, it could be worth a go. I think something like 13 inch buckets minimum are recommended. I remember someone on tv used half barrels and this seems a more sensible size to me.
billie, I don't know what it causing your problem, but netting them will rule out the feathered kind of problem, mouse traps will sort out another, then you just have all the other things it could beslug pellets? Netting will also keep off, rats, rabbits, cats, dogs etc.

Thanks Lotus-eater, I do appreciate your help, I have some bigger pots , I think about 16 inches across so will use them instead , can find plenty of use for the flower buckets!0 -

I planted four in the ground on Saturday. One of them had three flowers on which never opened properly. This morning when I looked the flowers with their stalks were on the ground having been gnawed through:eek:. Do you think it could be mice? Have had something tunnelling under the sprout plants. Funny they didn't eat the courgette flowers though. Maybe a vindictive mouse as I keep filling in the tunnel! We get a lot of wood pigeons as well. Maybe I should net the courgette plants?0
