Don't want to be ignorant but just to say that I am having a serious crisis of confidence this morning.

That you can't do the job? Or that previous experiences will haunt you & possibly affect your performance?

Why not read through your newly tweaked CV, as if you have just been handed it & are reading it for the first time. Take "a step back" from your past, and just think about whether you could do the job, whether you could feasibly travel daily, and whether you are ready to take that step on the new path you are making for yourself.

Then go have a cup of tea, sit down & read today's headlines on BBC news webpages, and then make your mind up.

After all, it is experience both in the commute & the interview - but I can appreciate that you may think it could be a step too far at the moment.

I know that it if frightening but think of it this way - they saw your cv and wanted to talk to you - if they didnt like what they saw they wouldnt have accepted an out of deadline application. They have made the exception because something you have put on your cv is of interest. They arent interested in the spelling mistakes or the benefits you are on - they are interested in YOU!
    What a wonderful feeling!

A favourite saying of mine is "An elephant is the same size close up" - I don't claim to have created it and must have originally heard to from someone else but when I use it, I am often asked what it means.
I now seem to have become someone who actually does (still) have - as my ex-Mother-in-Law said - ideas above my station.
(She said that on the day that I had finally been accepted [as a mother and mature student] at Sheffield University and it truly brought me back down to Earth with a crash.)
The crazy thing is that I believe where I AM is further away from where I want to be (and once upon a time believed I could be). My mind believes that I can do absolutely anything; the rest of me (and my circumstances) make it impossible.

    Aw. big hugs.

I have to say that it's not often you get the response that you got when applying for jobs. Seriously.

But, a crisis of confidence as all part of what you are going through at the mo...your last situation has knocked you back a bit. At least you aren't being all cocky about it.

Are you going to let your ex-employer win?? No you blooming aren't.

I don't live that far from you - if you get this I am coming up there and taking you out for some scram. On me.

We're all behind you 100%, and want you to go for this job.

That's why she is an ex MIL - completely clueless. MILs do that you know - makes them feel better about their boys.

Don't give in to her psychological games.

ETA - sometimes you have to slow down and let others overtake you in order to rev up and overtake them, faster and with your middle finger hoisted right up in the air for all to see.

I'm sorry, but what a load of small spherical objects possessed by the males of the species!

You CAN do it, and if the jobcentre have got any sense, they will encourage you & support you to do it.

As Zazen says, are you gonna let the old !!!!!! win? NO!!!!! You can't do that!!!

I'm laughing AND crying at the same time.
    And also scared and encouraged.

The thing is my CV makes me look good - and I know that I was once upon a time all of those things; but the new me doesn't even function properly most days.... seriously. How do I make myself better in less than 2 days? Can't be done.
