    Oi!!!!!

    We're not all weird........................... :(

Not you tinkerbell - but there are some folks down there that won't look you in the eye and a whole bunch of others you don't want to look in the eye in case they feel threatened and you are not being respectful and then they hiss at you like an indignant goose.

Some Londoners are nice - take my chap for instance and some of the policemen are friendly when you stop to ask directions:D

Got2Change there is another book you can get from the library its all about change and how to cope with it - the book is called Who Moved My Cheese.

Thank you Sue - I have heard of that book and may look it up.

My life historically has been one of survival, dogged (more than some at very significant times - i..e. career decisions at school) by financial necessity. It has resulted in - well, this. I am not anything - and am running out of time to be Something (even to myself).

Why are you running out of time to be Something? You have all the time in the world, and sometimes we need time to just sit and realise what it is we DONT want in order to recognise what we DO want when it turns up ;) Dont feel bad beacuse you didnt like London (I couldnt go back either!!) feel pleased that you took the opportunity to cross that one off your list, now you realise that although you dont think you have any ties to where you are, actually you do, you just like being there!

I can't remember what it's called but I had a personality type/appropriate career analysis* done prior to my redundancy; suitable careers for me were - HR (!!!!!!), PR (better), Counselling and Health Care.

I think you could be good at anything you wanted to be, you seem like a pretty organised person, who gets on with other people, has a love of animals (cant be all bad then can you :rotfl: ) and most importantly has a sense of humour - if you cant laugh at yourself now and then, then you need to!

(I've just been to dig out the document and it's weird to read it again as I had forgotten and strangely enough some of my possible "directions" (me? direction?)are on that list. Spooky.

Why? It might just give you an idea of what else to put on that list of what you could do, or would like to investigate further, or maybe things you really dont want to do?

In the last couple of years I have moved house away from everything that I had down South to a county thats wet and cold (and they really ARE a bit strange!) but I have realised that actually, some of the things that I always thought I enjoyed, I dont do any more. Whether that is a change of lifestyle, pr a natural crossroads I cant say, but without the time to stop and ponder and realise what I didnt want to do then I dont think I would be as calm as I am today.

Dont worry about your direction, it will find you, take the time to look at what you are good at (not just what you used to be/ think you are not good at etc - I reckon you could still do it all without too much bother its just a crisis of confidence) and then take the first step.

Take care of yourself and try not to be so hard on yourself, you are a wonderful unique person and you should celebrate that.

Kimitatsu - that is a truly wonderful post.
Thank you so much for the time and trouble you have gone to whilst I wasn't looking (I have been up to the top of a field in the rain and am now soaked and covered in mud).
I shall take everything that you have said on board and have a talk to myself. (It is my age that makes me think I'm running out of time - coupled with too many false starts to count....)
I wish that I believed in myself a fraction as much as you (and other lovely people who have posted on here) seem to.
Thank you again - for understanding and helping me to focus.

(PS - I am interested to know your story of moving etc - would also like to hear if any county is rainier than bleeping S Yorks/Notts........)
