Thanks Kaz,I have stopped having great expectations for fear of rejection and disappointment and it works- lower your expectations and be kind to everyone.Even at 40 a certain someone can make me feel small and insignificant even tho I have been a Company Director for 18 1/2 years, own several houses, have a fantastic OH,excellent kids, fine group of friends and a sunny disposition. But it is never enough...

I have taken a year out ,got a trusted manager into my business ,moved to Spain without my OH (visits every 2-3 weeks and have lost 6 + stone focusing on me) Moving back to UK in Sept with a new Dr Seuss resolve as my sig. Can't wait to be a family again. My OH has been so supportive and understanding many hubbies would not have put up with it as it was very me,me,me.........Having worked 50+ hours a week, volunteered and ensured that everyone got everywhere, met up with friends ,kept in touch and was a fantastic example of wonder woman who felt sad and empty inside.

    Evening all,

    AnneLouise - I salute you!

I've had a lovely day - just sort of schlepping about. Lots of nice presents. DD even brought round a birthday cake she'd made for me - it's a carrot cake with lovely butter icing stuff on it. It's really tasty. I didn't know my daughter was turning into a fantastic cook!

Had a couple of email exchanges (via FReU) with exhub1. He's opened up his family tree for me on GenesReU so I can start on DS's tree immediately. He's not got very far as he's only just started so I've already filled in some gaps (haven't told him that yet!). I'm about to order some pertinent certificates from GRO. (For those who don't know what the heck I'm talking about - you can look up index numbers of old birth, marriage and death certificates online and then order copies of them - you can then often get back a generation because you find out who parents are and things). Seems his Mum and Dad are still alive (NOT FAIR! ~stamps foot~ I hate being an orphan). I keep wandering off into memories today and a few whatifs. But, But, I'm taking it very very slowly and carefully and very sensibly and grownuply. I did 'fess up to him that the pic he saw is 10 years old. He said he was shocked I didn't look like I was 40.... The wonders of a good photographer :D

Right, off to order these certificates and then see about dinner.

    Hi guys

I am looking for advice for old style cleaning

What can i use as an anti bacterial spray , for my kitchen surfaces and chopping boards ? And what sort of quantities is needed to make up a bottle?

And what can i use instead of supermarket polishing wipes ?

Any help would be great

Hi, there  You could take a look at the Indexed Collections - lots of cleaning threads there :D

As this thread has slipped off the front page of Old Style, I'll merge it with this week's Flylady, and you might get more suggetsions.

I have just been looking again at Valli's Rhubarb and ginger jam recipe from last week's thread

    You need
2 and a half pounds of rhubarb
2 and a half pounds of sugar (ordinary granulated)
2 - 3 heaped tsp of ground ginger
Juice of 1 lemon (or 2 - 3 tbsp from a Jif lemon or similar - Lidl do a good sized one)

Wash and slice rhubarb (you don't need to peel it it makes the jam pink)
Put in jam pan with the lemon and ginger and cook slowly. The rhubarb will soften and you geta thick pulp.
The recipe says cook until tender - but I cook until all rhubarb has pulped.

Add sugar, bring to boil and boil briskly for ten minutes.

    Test and pot!

. It says to use granulated sugar. I have a mixture of caster and granulated, and about 120g of jam sugar left. Do you think it would work with this?
