A SIM card holds IMEI information on EVERY phone it has been in, even for a minute

the network's computers will probably track it, but the sim card probably wont.

the last time i bought a phone from argos it was opened to check (but they didnt check the imei  )

Typically a SIM will hold the IMEI for the last 20 phones (deep, deep within it's circuitry!!) and I've not seen a limit on the IMEI software used on the technical side. I used to use my works SIM for product testing, and the system showed 200+ different phones. They usually have a short identifier as well as the IMEI - eg, MotoV3. So the network provider can match the last SIM number (the number on the SIM not the phone number) to the IMEI of the missing phone and then identify the owner either via the phone number, or even the phone number of any shared phone.

They can go so far as to locate where the phone was switched on (within a mile radius, in a city), which might also pinpoint it's movements.

I doubt that network providers would release this information without police intervention however - it's protected by the data protection act.

I should hope Argos would simply replace the phone and possibly do an internal enquiry into it's loss.

Have you any more comedy claims to make? Just because you once worked for a company doesn't make you qualified to comment on any of the technology that has been used within that industry. If that was the case I'd be an expert in material sciences, pharmaceuticals, optical equipment etc etc etc.

Finally you have got something right. Definition of an "ExSpurt" an "Ex" is a "Has Been" and a "Spurt" is a "Drip Under Pressure", I think that about sums you up nicely. :D

I used to work for Argos
Any items brought from the security room should be marked without you knowing it of the person that removed it
Basically the white piece of paper taped to the box should have a squiggle or initital on it thats so deep it should mark the box but not with a pen. Make an indentation is what im trying to say
Also did the box have string round it
This is how the boxes of display items are kept. The string round it tells the staff member that the box is empty
Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!

This happened to me once in Argos with a Digital Camera. I didnt open the box till I got home Saturday night and had to wait till Monday to go back. It turned the Camera was on show and thats why the box was empty. They realised when it showed no more cameras in stock but they still had one on show. I hope you manage to sort it out. Good luck

Maybe to you but not to anyone who has a clue about storeage on electronic devices. I mean can you get more vague - 'deep, deep within it's circuitry!!' ?
